Position Summary

The ADT Africa Regional Partner possesses extensive experience in private equity within emerging markets, with a strong focus on regulated financial institutions that are pioneering novel digital financial services aimed at micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), smallholder farmers, and low-income households.

A strong candidate will demonstrate practical experience in utilizing technology to drive growth within financial institutions and will partner with ADT’s Operating Partner, Action Advisory, Action’s financial inclusion advisory team, and other specialized advisory groups to craft digitization strategies for clients. In this role, they will engage with shareholders, boards, and management teams of portfolio companies to foster alignment and ensure successful implementation of strategic initiatives.

The Africa Regional Partner may oversee an Investment Analyst, depending on the portfolio’s scale and available opportunities within the region. Investments across Africa are anticipated to constitute approximately 25% of total investible capital, potentially encompassing co-investments facilitated by limited partners.

Oversee a comprehensive range of duties essential to the role, including executing key tasks that drive operational efficiency and organizational success. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance productivity, ensuring alignment with broader company objectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to foster innovation, streamline processes, and achieve measurable outcomes. Maintain adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements while upholding the highest standards of professional conduct. Provide leadership in project execution, delegating responsibilities effectively and monitoring progress to ensure timely delivery. Serve as a key liaison between departments, facilitating clear communication and resolving challenges to support seamless workflows.

Collaborating closely with the Managing Partners, the Africa Regional Partner spearheads the comprehensive investment cycle for the Africa portfolio, overseeing activities from initial deal sourcing to final execution and exit, while also providing global support to the team as required. Critical investment processes encompass:

Evaluating potential equity investments that align with ADT’s commitment to impact and its focus on digitalization initiatives.

Developing and maintaining precise financial models, projections, and valuations to evaluate equity investment and divestment prospects while delivering comprehensive reports to limited partners.

Conveying deal analysis along with investment recommendations to the Investment Committee constitutes a key responsibility.

Responsible for spearheading deal negotiations and overseeing their execution, including drafting and finalizing legal documentation, while ensuring strict adherence to ESG policies throughout the process.

Overseeing the equity portfolio and formulating and implementing responsible exit strategies for portfolio companies are key responsibilities.

Assist the digital transformation team in formulating a digitization strategy tailored to potential target companies, and contribute to its execution to drive value creation.

Provide strategic guidance to portfolio companies, including cultivating strategic partnerships, securing new sources of debt and equity financing, and offering insights on key strategic choices, with particular emphasis on ESG and digital transformation initiatives.

As needed, serve as a representative of ADT on the boards of portfolio companies to fulfill governance responsibilities and provide strategic guidance.

Create co-investment consortia while cultivating robust, mutually beneficial partnerships with co-investors.

Deliver continuous assistance to the Operations and Finance teams in assessing portfolio company valuations and compiling associated reports.

Collaborate closely with Managing Partners to cultivate a compelling brand and foster a vibrant organizational culture, ensuring AIM consistently aligns with industry-leading standards and best practices.

Assist in managing investor relations and conducting due diligence assessments for prospective investors.

You will serve as AIM’s representative in the Africa market and on a global scale, engaging in professional development initiatives and knowledge-sharing activities both externally and collaboratively with Action, as needed.

Position Requirements include a minimum of five years of relevant experience in the field, along with a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical skills, proficiency in data management tools, and the ability to work independently. Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards is essential. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are also required.

With over fifteen years of specialized experience in investment, particularly in private equity, the ideal candidate will possess a deep expertise in financial institutions and fintech. This role demands a proven ability to originate, spearhead, and successfully exit investments, with a specific emphasis on opportunities within Africa.

Advanced analytical and investment judgment is required, along with a strong track record of leading due diligence initiatives, structuring complex transactions, and managing portfolio performance—all aimed at achieving both financial returns and measurable social impact.
