What you’ll do:

As the University Guidance Counselor, your primary responsibility will involve assisting students in navigating the university application process and equipping them with the necessary tools to achieve their academic goals. You will be instrumental in shaping their futures by providing guidance and support throughout this critical phase. Your duties will encompass the following key areas:

Provide comprehensive support to students throughout their university application journey, ensuring they navigate each step seamlessly—from identifying suitable institutions to successfully obtaining scholarships—while leveraging in-depth knowledge of international pathways and the British Curriculum.

Collaborating with key stakeholders involves close engagement with educators, parents, school administrators, and academic teams to track student progress and deliver well-informed recommendations.

We strive to expand students’ extracurricular offerings by designing initiatives that deepen their academic engagement while simultaneously coordinating career-focused activities, including events, workshops, and mentorship programs.

Developing and nurturing university partnerships represents a key responsibility, with a primary focus on fostering relationships across African institutions and international universities. Additionally, this role involves overseeing university application platforms and digital tools to ensure seamless collaboration and operational efficiency.

Develop and maintain a vibrant alumni network to provide ongoing support and guidance to current and former students throughout their academic and professional pursuits.

The sought-after candidate should possess strong organizational and communication skills, with a proven track record in project management and team leadership. A minimum of five years of experience in a similar role is required, along with expertise in data analysis and strategic planning. The individual must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and exhibit a keen ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or a related field, and must be capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail are essential to succeed in this position.

We seek a candidate who offers more than mere experience—a professional with the appropriate skills and attitude to inspire and equip students. The preferred applicant will possess:

A background in university guidance, teaching, or the broader education sector is fundamental, as it equips professionals with the insight to address students’ academic needs and deliver meaningful assistance throughout the university application journey.

Proficient understanding of the British Curriculum is essential to provide targeted support to students in the DISC framework and to help them navigate appropriate university pathways.

Exceptional communication and presentation abilities are essential for composing compelling recommendation letters, mentoring students and parents effectively, fostering productive relationships with educators and university representatives, and earning the trust and respect of the school community.

Strong proficiency in data management and digital tools is essential to effectively manage student application data, monitor progress, process reports, and utilize digital platforms with efficiency and accuracy.

Proficient understanding of African and international universities enables students to access diverse academic options and identify institutions that align with their educational goals.

Possessing strong creative and event management abilities is essential for effectively planning and executing career fairs, workshops, and other student-focused enrichment initiatives designed to expand their professional and personal horizons.

A problem-solving mindset is essential to establish a new university guidance function, tackle challenges effectively, handle demanding workloads, and assist families who may have limited familiarity with the university application process.
