"Kenya Maritime Authority: Regulating Kenya’s maritime industry."
The Kenya Maritime Authority was established in June 2004 as a semi-autonomous agency tasked with overseeing Kenya’s maritime sector. As a leader in the industry, it aims to enhance maritime governance by strengthening regulatory frameworks and institutional capacities to ensure maritime safety and security. The Authority is committed to implementing international maritime conventions and other mandatory instruments related to safety, security, and environmental protection. It also promotes maritime training, Search and Rescue operations, pollution prevention, and the preservation of marine ecosystems while facilitating trade and attracting maritime investments.
