Oversee and execute critical operational duties, ensuring seamless alignment with organizational objectives and industry standards. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and overall performance. Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies while fostering a culture of accountability and excellence. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess progress and identify opportunities for optimization. Lead project planning, execution, and evaluation to deliver measurable results within established timelines and budget constraints.

Assist in the development of the national oil spill response contingency plan, specifically for coastal and inland waterways.

Assist in the revision and enhancement of the national oil spill response contingency plan, covering both coastal and inland waterways.

Provide support in executing the national oil spill response contingency plan for both coastal and inland waterways.

Assist in the development and execution of strategies aimed at monitoring and preventing oil spills in both coastal and inland waterways.

Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure the safeguarding of the marine environment against the impacts of shipping operations.

Conduct pollution prevention inspections at Kenyan ports and navigable waterways to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

Help execute public awareness campaigns aimed at preventing pollution originating from ships.

Provide support in executing international conventions and related instruments specifically aimed at marine pollution response and coordination efforts.

Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, preferably supplemented by certifications in cloud computing or cybersecurity. Requires at least 3 years of hands-on experience in software development, system administration, or IT infrastructure management. The ideal applicant should demonstrate proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++, along with expertise in cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, coupled with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to articulate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile methodologies is highly desirable.

The position requires a strong background in academic research, teaching, or related fields, with a focus on critical analysis and scholarly contributions. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline and demonstrate a commitment to advancing knowledge through publication and peer-reviewed work. Responsibilities include delivering lectures, supervising student research, and contributing to departmental and institutional objectives. Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor both students and junior faculty are essential. Familiarity with grant writing, academic conference presentations, and interdisciplinary collaboration is highly desirable.

A valid Certificate of Competency as a Marine Engineer Officer, compliant with STCW standards, is required.

Possesses a valid Certificate of Competency as a Deck Officer, issued in compliance with STCW standards, demonstrating proficiency in maritime navigation, leadership, and operational duties.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required for this role.
