Job Objective/Purpose

To spearhead and manage vaccination initiatives for school-aged children and hospital staff, while also monitoring student engagement in immunization services, this role ensures the secure, ethical, and regulation-compliant administration of vaccines in strict alignment with Ministry of Health (MOH) directives, occupational health protocols, and institutional policies.

Oversee a range of critical operational duties, including the development and implementation of strategic plans, alongside the management of cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Lead initiatives that drive process optimization, cost efficiency, and performance enhancement while maintaining high standards of accountability and transparency. Collaborate closely with senior leadership to identify emerging opportunities, mitigate risks, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies while delivering measurable results that contribute to long-term business growth.

Devise, manage, and supervise vaccination initiatives targeting school-aged children across the hospital premises and designated outreach locations.

Collaborate with educational institutions, families, and public health departments to synchronize vaccination timelines and obtain necessary consent.

Administer vaccinations with a focus on child-centered care, ensuring age-appropriate methods and strict adherence to safety protocols.

Responsible for directing cold chain procedures, ensuring proper storage, handling, and accountability of vaccines.

Track vaccine distribution, administration rates, and wastage while monitoring Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEF).

Accurately document, report, and conduct follow-up activities related to vaccinations to ensure comprehensive and reliable records.

Facilitate and manage employee vaccination initiatives in partnership with Human Resources and Occupational Health departments.

Ensure adherence to recommended staff immunization protocols as stipulated by Ministry of Health guidelines.

Oversee and safeguard confidential employee vaccination records and reports with the utmost discretion and accuracy.

Facilitate pre-employment, routine, and outbreak-related staff vaccination programs to ensure comprehensive immunization coverage.

Deliver vaccine education and counseling sessions to employees and relevant stakeholders as needed.

Maintain rigorous compliance with child safeguarding policies throughout all vaccination initiatives conducted within school premises.

Ensure informed consent is secured before initiating any vaccination procedures.

Maintain strict adherence to privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and safety protocols throughout the vaccine administration process.

Investigate and oversee the documentation of vaccination-related incidents, adverse events following immunization (Aegis), and safeguarding issues.

Collaborate with the Ministry of Health, county health teams, educational institutions, and internal departments to coordinate immunization initiatives.

Compile comprehensive compliance, performance, and regulatory reports pertaining to vaccination programs.

Facilitate compliance with audits, inspections, and accreditation standards pertaining to immunization services.

Person Specification

A bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, or a healthcare-related field is required.

Hold a current, active license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.

Maintain current certifications in both Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

ATLAS certification would be considered a valuable asset.

A minimum of three years of professional experience within a hospital environment is required.

Proficiency in hospital-based chronic care programs constitutes an additional asset.

Proven ability to build strong relationships through clear and effective communication, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders at all levels.
