Job purpose

Medicine compounding involves the meticulous preparation, mixing, and alteration of pharmaceutical ingredients to produce personalized medications tailored to individual patient needs. Pharmacists and compounding specialists meticulously follow strict regulatory guidelines and quality standards to ensure the safety, efficacy, and consistency of each formulation. This role requires advanced knowledge of drug interactions, dosage forms, and sterile techniques, along with proficiency in using specialized equipment. Responsibilities include assessing prescriptions, sourcing appropriate ingredients, calculating precise measurements, and performing rigorous quality control checks. Effective communication with healthcare providers and patients is essential to ensure proper usage and understanding of compounded medications.

Remaining current with advancements in pharmaceuticals and their accessibility is essential to ensure optimal patient care and treatment efficacy.

Process prescriptions transmitted by healthcare providers to ensure accurate and timely dispensing of medications.

Compounding medications according to physician instructions for patient fulfillment is required.

Confirm insurance details and validate prescription information to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.

Maintains accurate pharmacy inventory through systematic checks of pharmaceutical stock levels, identifies current and future medication and supply requirements, and processes and expedites orders as needed. Verifies timely receipt of items and ensures the removal of outdated medications from inventory.

Ensures a secure and orderly pharmacy environment by adhering to established procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.

Ensures the safety of patients and staff by strictly following infection control policies and protocols.

Responsible for meticulously preparing medications for dispensing by interpreting medication orders and prescriptions, generating labels, determining quantities, and compounding intravenous solutions and other pharmaceutical preparations.

Responsibilities include accurately documenting and organizing physicians’ orders and prescriptions within the record-keeping system.

Ensures the timely availability of medications by transporting them to patients and various departments within the facility.

Compiles and synthesizes data to produce comprehensive reports, ensuring all relevant information is accurately captured and presented in a structured format.

Report adverse drug reactions and substandard pharmaceutical products to the pharmacy and poisons board as required.

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, engineering, or mathematics, is required. At least three years of experience in software development or a related role is necessary. Proficiency in multiple programming languages, including but not limited to Java, Python, or C++, is essential. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team are crucial. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are mandatory. Familiarity with agile development methodologies is preferred.

Holder of diploma in pharmacy from Kenya Medical Training College/any recognized medical institution

Duly registered by pharmacy and poisons board

Current practice License

With a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in a high-volume dispensing unit, you will bring practical expertise to our team.
