Deliver specialized technical and operational assistance to strategic planning initiatives and corporate coordination efforts, encompassing the following responsibilities:

Contribute to the creation, integration, and oversight of the UNSC’s annual work plan, results frameworks, and strategic planning documents.

Assist in drafting strategic notes, concept papers, and internal planning documents for the Deputy Director and UNSC senior leadership to support high-level decision-making processes.

Facilitate the incorporation of gender equality and women’s empowerment objectives across UN system-wide initiatives, shared methodologies, and collaborative inter-agency frameworks.

Prepare briefing notes, background papers, and presentations in support of senior leadership engagements, inter-agency meetings, and external events.

Deliver technical and operational assistance to UN system entities and inter-agency coordination initiatives.

Provide assistance in developing, evaluating, and sustaining current data concerning UN system coordination frameworks, specialized bodies, and cross-agency initiatives pertinent to the UNSC.

Provide support in the coordination and follow-up of UNC activities, ensuring alignment and collaboration across the UN system.

Deliver comprehensive substantive and operational assistance in the planning and execution of high-level inter-agency meetings, events, or initiatives—such as Correlated coordination and UN system consultations.

Deliver expert technical assistance to the Secretariat overseeing the Gender Equality Acceleration Plan (GAP).

Offer comprehensive technical and operational assistance to the UCSD coordination and partnership initiatives.

Facilitate UNSC’s interactions with a diverse range of stakeholders—including UN agencies, Member States, civil society organizations, academic institutions, and other partners—to enhance system-wide collaboration on gender equality initiatives.

Assist with the planning and documentation of coordination meetings, consultations, and briefings organized by UNSC, which involves drafting agendas, compiling background notes, preparing summaries, and tracking action points.

Facilitate seamless collaboration among UN Women divisions and offices to ensure alignment with UNSC mandates and the timely fulfillment of deliverables.

Qualifications

Education:

A degree in gender studies, political science, international relations, or an equivalent field is a prerequisite for this role.

Meet one of the following:

Applicants must be currently enrolled in an advanced academic program, such as a master’s degree, a postgraduate qualification, or an equivalent higher-level course of study.

To be considered for this position, you must be in the final academic year of an undergraduate degree program, which requires a minimum qualification equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree or higher.

Graduates from holding a university degree are eligible, provided they begin the internship within two years of completing their studies.

Candidates must be actively enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program integrated into an academic degree, fulfilling the internship requirement as a mandatory component of the curriculum.
