Position Summary:
The HIV Epidemiologist will deliver expert technical advisory services and strategic thought leadership in HIV surveillance, epidemiological analysis, data modeling, and implementation science initiatives across Palladium Kenya’s health projects. This position enhances national and county-level HIV data utilization, program evaluation, and policy-informed analytics.

Primary responsibilities involve executing a range of duties essential to the role, including managing daily operations, overseeing project timelines, and ensuring adherence to organizational policies. Key tasks include coordinating team efforts, analyzing performance metrics to identify areas for improvement, and developing strategic initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency. Additionally, the position requires maintaining clear communication with stakeholders, preparing comprehensive reports, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve established objectives. The role demands strong leadership skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Offer expert technical support in conducting HIV epidemiological analyses, developing modeling frameworks, and leveraging routinely collected program and surveillance data.
Spearhead and facilitate implementation science, operational research, and evaluation initiatives focused on HIV/TB programs.
Offer expert technical guidance to the Ministry of Health (MOH), the United States Government (USG), and additional stakeholders, focusing on data modelling methodologies and epidemiological assessments.
Develop protocols, ensure data quality, and handle ethical and non-research determinations.
Develop comprehensive analytical deliverables, such as detailed reports, concise abstracts, comprehensive manuscripts, impactful presentations, and concise policy briefs.
Support capacity-building initiatives by designing training materials and leading stakeholder training sessions.
As a minimum, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, complemented by at least three years of hands-on experience in a comparable role. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, alongside strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail is critical. Prior experience in [specific industry or function, if applicable] is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
An advanced degree, at the Master’s level or higher, in fields such as Epidemiology, Public Health, Statistics, Health Systems, or a related discipline is required.
With a minimum of five years of professional experience in public health research, evaluation, or implementation science—ideally within the domains of HIV or TB—candidates should demonstrate a strong background in these critical areas.
A robust portfolio of publications in peer-reviewed journals is essential, with a preference for those where you are the lead author.
Proven proficiency in epidemiological and statistical analysis tools, including State, R, SAS, SPSS, and Python, is required.
Proficiency with Kenya’s National Data Warehouse or comparable large-scale health data systems would be advantageous.
Effective stakeholder engagement, demonstrated leadership capabilities, and proficient technical writing expertise are essential.
Proficiency in both written and spoken English is required.
