Performs a range of duties and responsibilities encompassing key operational functions to ensure organizational effectiveness and adherence to established standards.

Assisting in the formulation and execution of CFS’s strategy, in close collaboration with regional WBG teams, with a particular emphasis on advancing WBG’s strategic objectives across the Africa region.

EMP/M&A Advisory: Partnering with regional leaders, you will spearhead the development and completion of buy-side and sell-side advisory assignments, restructuring initiatives, and EMP services mandates throughout the Africa region.

Leading origination and execution of strategic pre-IPO advisory mandates across five global regions, with a focus on guiding clients through listing processes, assessing feasibility and timing, navigating regulatory requirements, and addressing critical issues. This involves evaluating and advising on current corporate and balance sheet structures, valuation methodologies, and strategic business planning. Responsibilities also include developing comprehensive timetables for the listing process, assisting in broker selection, and reviewing prospectus drafts. Additionally, the role encompasses preparing management and the board for the listing, along with providing advisory services related to corporate governance.

Relationship management involves cultivating robust partnerships with internal stakeholders across African regions and industry sectors to uncover collaborative prospects that advance business growth and operational delivery in harmony with IFC’s corporate goals.

Client Management: Collaborating with multi-regional clients and key internal stakeholders to devise transaction strategies, conduct bankability assessments, evaluate funding feasibility, perform financial modeling, and support business planning or restructuring initiatives.

The role involves compiling and reviewing essential transaction documentation, including marketing materials for each deal, information memorandum, due diligence reports, transaction structuring documents, and various contracts and agreements, among other key transaction reports.

Mentorship: Provide guidance to junior team members, supporting their professional growth and enabling them to meet established business objectives.

Corporate Initiative: Reinforcing IFC’s “brand” within the CFS sector by leveraging IFC’s established regional brand and broader communications strategy.

Selection Criteria

The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise and a proven track record in the following areas:

A Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in finance, business, law, or consulting is required, along with at least 12 to 15 years of hands-on experience in a relevant field. Candidates with a diversified background spanning two or more of these disciplines will be given preference.

With extensive expertise in equity transactions, gained through roles as a principal investor, advisor, or underwriter in investment banks, venture capital firms, or private equity institutions.

Transaction advisory experience in buy side mandates, sell side mandates, restructuring mandates, preferably in the disruptive technology space.

Demonstrated ability to consistently achieve precise outcomes in mergers and acquisitions, restructuring initiatives, and initial public offerings, even within demanding schedules and high-pressure conditions.

Demonstrates a track record of fostering robust client partnerships and effectively delivering assignments across international jurisdictions and challenging operational contexts.

Candidates with a track record of successfully guiding companies through initial public offerings (IPOs) on prominent global stock exchanges, including the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the London Stock Exchange (LSE), will be viewed favorably.

Accomplished in driving business outcomes, evidenced by a proven investment background, exceptional decision-making skills, and a well-established reputation within professional circles.

A collaborative team member with a proven track record of thriving in diverse, multicultural settings and effectively engaging with geographically dispersed teams.

Demonstrates exceptional collaborative capabilities, coupled with advanced facilitation and interpersonal proficiencies.

Exceptional proficiency in both written and verbal communication is essential.
