Role Summary
Reporting to the Senior ICT Officer, the ICT Intern will acquire practical exposure to Information Technology within an active NGO setting. This internship aims to offer insight into essential ICT responsibilities, such as technical support, systems administration, network monitoring, data and systems management, and cybersecurity operations. The intern will collaborate closely with the ICT team to facilitate daily functions, contribute to active initiatives, and advance the organization’s objectives by maintaining seamless, secure, and dependable ICT services.
Oversee the comprehensive execution of core duties and responsibilities, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and industry standards. Lead critical initiatives, manage cross-functional teams, and drive operational excellence through strategic planning and performance monitoring. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement, implement best practices, and maintain compliance with regulatory and ethical guidelines. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous development while delivering measurable results that support long-term growth and sustainability.
Offer technical support to employees regarding common software and hardware-related problems.
Provide support for the setup, configuration, and ongoing upkeep of both hardware and software systems.
Provide assistance with the diagnosis and resolution of network issues, as well as the ongoing upkeep of network systems.
Monitor and oversee the repair and maintenance activities for ICT equipment to ensure timely resolution and continued operational efficiency.
Deliver comprehensive ICT support for meetings, events, and field activities as required.
Support ICT Security Operations by monitoring potential threats, upholding security policies, facilitating audit processes, and guaranteeing adherence to organizational standards.
Document and forward any unresolved issues to senior ICT personnel for further action.
Execute all additional tasks delegated by the ICT supervisor as required.
Required Academic and Professional Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, computer science, business administration, or a related discipline, is essential. Additionally, candidates must possess a minimum of five years of progressive professional experience in a comparable role, demonstrating expertise in project management, strategic planning, or a closely aligned area. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are also necessary. Proficiency in industry-standard software tools and methodologies, along with relevant certifications—such as PMP, Six Sigma, or Agile—are highly advantageous.
A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline is currently being pursued or has recently been completed.
Proficiency in utilizing both Unix and Windows-based applications, along with a foundational understanding of networking principles, is required.
Proven expertise in networking infrastructure, PC maintenance, Microsoft Windows Server administration, Microsoft Active Directory management, desktop operating system deployment, as well as Cisco routing, switching, and voice technology implementation.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
