JOB SUMMARY

The Africa Communications Assistant will contribute to advancing a strong and engaging narrative about Habitat’s initiatives in Africa, ensuring alignment with the organization’s communications standards and brand guidelines while collaborating closely with key internal stakeholders. This entails delivering communications support for partnerships, advocacy efforts, and programs throughout the region. Additionally, the role will collaborate with country office communications teams to execute communications plans and materials effectively.

The Assistant will work in close partnership with the Africa Area Office and the global communications team. Within the Africa communications team, the position will involve overseeing and maintaining digital and social media activities across regional platforms, ensuring Habitat’s initiatives in Africa are prominently and effectively showcased online.

Conducts essential duties, including overseeing daily operations to ensure efficiency and adherence to company policies. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows and optimize productivity. Prepares and maintains accurate records, reports, and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards. Addresses operational challenges promptly and implements corrective actions to mitigate risks. Supports strategic initiatives by contributing to project planning, execution, and performance evaluation. Ensures compliance with safety protocols and quality assurance measures. Participates in training programs to enhance team capabilities and professional development.

In collaboration with the Africa programs team, you will help develop and execute regional narratives designed to enhance fundraising, advocacy, and program objectives while maintaining alignment with the organization’s overarching strategy.

Assist in collecting content to craft engaging narratives and materials that effectively convey our impact and align with the priorities of critical stakeholders, including fundraising, advocacy, and program teams.

Support the management of website content and oversee regional social media platforms to enhance audience engagement, increase brand visibility, and drive growth in follower base.

Assist in strengthening Habitat’s brand standards by participating in the review and editing process for all communications materials, including stories, photos, and videos, to maintain consistency and uphold high-quality standards.

Assist in organizing regional communications initiatives, such as media interactions, partnership visibility efforts, and campaign launches.

Assist in the organization and implementation of communications for regional events, encompassing branding initiatives, photography, and post-event narrative development.

The role necessitates fulfillment of essential qualifications, including a specified level of education or equivalent experience, relevant certifications if applicable, and a minimum number of years in a related field. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in key technical skills or competencies, such as software proficiency, analytical abilities, or industry-specific knowledge. Strong communication and organizational skills are required to effectively collaborate with teams and manage responsibilities.
