Role Objective

Our client, a prominent Events Management Company headquartered in Nairobi, is in search of a skilled Accountant to oversee the company’s financial functions. This position will entail maintaining precise financial records, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, optimizing cash flow, and reinforcing internal control systems. Additionally, the role will provide critical financial insights to guide strategic business decisions, ultimately supporting the achievement of the organization’s financial and operational goals.

Oversee and execute key functions and obligations integral to the role, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and standards. Deliver consistent performance in assigned tasks, maintaining high levels of accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism. Monitor and oversee cash flow dynamics, strategically enhancing liquidity to fulfill both operational obligations and project-specific needs.

Effectively manage working capital by optimizing the balance between accounts receivable and accounts payable to enhance liquidity and financial stability.

Perform comprehensive financial evaluations and cost assessments to uncover avenues for reducing expenditures and enhancing operational effectiveness.

Formulate and execute strategies to minimize and manage financial risks effectively.

Guarantee adherence to all legal requirements, encompassing tax obligations and timely submissions to pertinent regulatory bodies.

Oversee accounts receivable operations and enforce prompt collection of overdue debts to maintain optimal cash flow and financial stability.

Responsibilities include overseeing and implementing monthly invoicing processes, conducting reconciliations, and monitoring revenue tracking to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Oversee accounts payable functions, focusing on creditor management and ensuring prompt payments to capitalize on available settlement discounts.

Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports alongside financial statements to ensure accurate and timely financial oversight.

Responsible for managing bank reconciliations and optimizing transaction processes to maintain accuracy and efficiency in financial records.

Foster and sustain robust connections with banking institutions and other key financial stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration and mutual benefit.

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.

Address all inquiries concerning financial matters submitted by both internal teams and external partners promptly and thoroughly.

Ensure all financial records and documentation are meticulously maintained to meet audit and compliance requirements.

Facilitate internal and external audits, and execute recommended actions as needed.

Oversee the seamless execution of all financial processes and activities throughout the organization.

Enhance and oversee internal control frameworks to ensure the protection of company assets.

Candidates must possess a degree in a related field and at least three years of hands-on experience in the industry. Seeking candidates with either a Certified Public Accountant (Kenya) credential or who have achieved the status of CPA Finalist.

A minimum of five years of demonstrated expertise in accounting and finance is required, with a preference for candidates who have gained their experience in events, hospitality, service, or related industries.

Demonstrates extensive proficiency in financial reporting, budget preparation, financial forecasting, tax obligations, and adherence to regulatory requirements.

Proficiency in accounting software platforms, including QuickBooks, Sage, Pastel, or alternative ERP systems, is required.

Demonstrates strong competency in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, with a specific emphasis on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint applications.

Possession of a valid Certificate of Good Conduct is considered a favorable qualification.

Essential competencies include strong analytical skills, proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting, and the ability to interpret complex data sets to drive strategic decision-making. Demonstrated expertise in corporate finance, risk management, and investment analysis is required, along with a track record of optimizing financial performance. Additionally, candidates must possess advanced proficiency in Excel, familiarity with ERP systems, and the capacity to manage multiple high-priority projects concurrently.
