Job Purpose:

Deliver the health underwriting mandate by executing precise risk selection, maintaining rigorous pricing standards, and managing portfolios effectively within specified authority limits, thereby achieving targeted loss ratios, ensuring portfolio quality, and aligning with the company’s underwriting philosophy.

Overseeing daily operations to ensure seamless workflow, you will manage a range of duties including project coordination, team supervision, and resource allocation. Your role involves maintaining high performance standards, monitoring progress, and implementing strategies to optimize efficiency. Additionally, you will collaborate with stakeholders, resolve operational challenges, and uphold company policies while fostering a productive work environment. Strong leadership and organizational skills are essential to drive team success and achieve organizational objectives.

Conduct comprehensive underwriting evaluations for the health insurance portfolio to uphold rigorous risk selection standards, maintain high-quality business practices, and consistently meet profitability and loss ratio objectives.

Assess health risks and determine underwriting outcomes—such as acceptance, rejection, or modification—within the bounds of delegated authority, utilizing sound technical judgment while strictly adhering to established underwriting protocols.

Assess and implement suitable pricing, terms, and conditions by carefully evaluating risk exposure to strike a balance between maintaining competitive advantage and adhering to underwriting principles.

Ensure strict adherence to underwriting standards, credit policy, and delegated authority limits while upholding robust risk governance and audit preparedness.

Monitor assigned risks diligently and execute necessary actions based on risk survey recommendations, guaranteeing prompt implementation and ongoing enhancement in portfolio quality.

Work collaboratively with business development, claims, and other internal teams to facilitate business acquisition, enhance client retention, and resolve underwriting-related issues efficiently.

Monitor underwriting performance trends, identify emerging risks or underperformance issues, and assist in implementing corrective measures to address them.

Maintain precise underwriting documentation while ensuring all client information is accurately recorded in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

Ensure all actions align with the approved Delegated Authority Matrix, and promptly refer matters beyond the established scope to higher authority.

Drive enhancements in underwriting processes, optimize turnaround times, and elevate service delivery standards through continuous improvement initiatives.

Perform additional tasks as directed to further departmental goals.

Seeking candidates with a strong academic background, relevant professional experience, and the necessary qualifications in the respective field. Proficiency in specific technical or industry-related skills is essential, along with demonstrated expertise through prior roles or educational credentials. Applicants must meet all specified educational and experiential prerequisites to be considered for this position.

A bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or an insurance-related field is strongly preferred.

A recognized professional qualification in insurance, such as ACID or INK, is required.

Seeking a candidate with six to eight years of specialized expertise in Health Underwriting, including at least two years in a leadership or supervisory role.

Preferred is a strong aptitude for driving innovation within the insurance and financial services sectors.

Proven expertise in reporting and data management is required.

Proficiency in data visualization software, such as Power BI, Tableau, or comparable platforms, is highly desirable.
