The Program Assistant plays a crucial role in executing field-level activities, conducting routine monitoring, and overseeing data management for the School Feeding Program and its associated sustainability efforts. Facilitate the execution of school feeding initiatives at designated educational institutions in alignment with established, authorized plans.
The role involves overseeing the food delivery coordination at the school level, encompassing the receipt and preliminary verification of deliveries.
Support the coordination of field operations and the facilitation of stakeholder meetings.
Support the rollout of sustainability initiatives at the school level as part of the Sustainable School Meals Project (SSMP), under the guidance of the SSMP Project Officer. This includes establishing, overseeing, and offering specialized assistance for kitchen gardens, crop cultivation, poultry farming, and related activities.
Responsibilities include compiling and presenting data to track performance, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and assessing program effectiveness through systematic assessment methods. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, proficiency in data analysis tools, and the ability to interpret results to inform strategic decisions. Candidates must possess strong organizational skills, the capacity to manage multiple priorities, and a commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in reporting processes. Experience in developing monitoring frameworks, conducting evaluations, and drafting comprehensive reports is essential. Collaboration with stakeholders to gather insights and facilitate continuous improvement is also a key component of this position.
Compose quarterly and annual reports to communicate the progress of the implementation efforts.
Oversee and ensure the accuracy of beneficiary and school records, including enrollment details, feeding data, and contact information.
Conduct routine monitoring visits to schools to verify adherence to implementation plans, including timely food deliveries, adherence to food quality standards, proper food storage practices, and appropriate utilization of food resources by schools.
Assist in documenting Program Change/Impact stories to ensure accurate and comprehensive records are maintained.
Regularly share updates regarding the implementation of the school feeding program across all designated platforms.
Engage in the systematic gathering of data for needs assessments, baseline studies, and impact evaluations at both the school and community levels.
Maintain accurate and current records by consistently utilizing all required tools and trackers as specified.
The position requires proactive interaction with stakeholders and community groups to foster strong relationships, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Job Specification:
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is essential, along with at least three years of professional experience in a comparable role. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are crucial, as is proficiency in industry-specific software and tools. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are also required to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest industry trends and best practices.
A relevant academic qualification in Food Security, Agronomy, Community Development, Nutrition, or Social Work, such as a university diploma or degree, is required.
With a minimum of two years of proven experience in relevant sectors, candidates must have held progressively responsible positions in School Feeding, Agriculture, Community Development, or Education in Emergencies.
Individuals should possess a solid background or hands-on experience in agricultural and agronomy practices, with a particular emphasis on engaging schools and neighboring communities.
Proficiency in working within Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (BASAL) regions and among local communities constitutes an additional asset for this role.
A motorcycle riding license in good standing is strongly preferred.
Able and willing to utilize motorcycle transportation for accessing project sites is essential.
Proven expertise in overseeing intricate projects with meticulous monitoring and comprehensive reporting capabilities.
Skilled in leveraging various data collection and reporting platforms, including Kobe, OK, Google Forms, Excel, and Google Sheets, among others.
