To fulfill the designated role, the primary objective involves delivering strategic leadership to drive organizational growth and operational excellence. The ICT Assistant specializing in Network Administration reports directly to the Head of ICT and is tasked with evaluating information risks while streamlining the resolution of identified vulnerabilities to enhance IT security and mitigate risks throughout Kenya Tea Packers. Additionally, this role involves coordinating ICT system support in collaboration with the Database Administrator, Business Intelligence, and Reporting teams. A key responsibility includes guaranteeing secure network connectivity both within and between Keep offices, as well as safeguarding the integrity and security of the company’s systems.

Responsibilities encompass a broad range of tasks integral to the role, including but not limited to managing project timelines, coordinating team efforts, and ensuring adherence to company policies. Key duties involve conducting regular performance evaluations, maintaining accurate records, and fostering a collaborative work environment. Additionally, the position requires overseeing daily operations, addressing employee concerns, and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance productivity. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential to successfully execute these responsibilities while aligning with organizational goals.

Evaluates connectivity KPIs—availability, utilization, throughput, and latency—to ensure optimal network performance. Additionally, oversees the selection, installation, configuration, and testing phases of ICT equipment to guarantee seamless integration and functionality.

Oversee all communications and address networking challenges by proactively implementing preventive strategies for IT networks, systems, and software applications.

Submit comprehensive reports detailing identified vulnerabilities alongside actionable recommendations to the Head of ICT for prompt corrective measures.

Conduct thorough vulnerability assessments employing IT security tools and established methodologies to identify and document any potential IT security risks or exposures present within the network, systems, and software applications.

Consults with users to define network specifications, evaluates workflow patterns, access needs, data requirements, and security protocols, and develops router administration strategies encompassing interface configuration and routing protocols.

Maintains optimal network performance through continuous monitoring, analysis, and performance tuning, while proactively troubleshooting issues and escalating unresolved problems to external vendors.

Develops and enforces network access protocols, continuously monitors network performance, implements robust control measures, and conducts thorough evaluations to ensure optimal security. Additionally, maintains precise and up-to-date documentation to reflect all network configurations and security measures.

Conduct regular evaluations of firewall rules, configurations, and logs in collaboration with the Head of Enhanced Cyber Defense and Security to establish access privileges, control frameworks, and resource allocations.

Provide support to the ICT Manager in evaluating and proposing enhancements to existing ICT policies, including the Disaster Recovery Plan, the Company Technology Infrastructure and Systems strategy, and the Business Continuity Planning Standard Operating Procedures.

Responsibilities include entering, updating, and tracking entries within the ICT support helpdesk system while delivering prompt, reliable, and ongoing assistance to all users of information and telecommunication systems.

Deliver fundamental training and technical assistance to users on network access and software application utilization while supporting the ICT Manager in the upkeep of comprehensive documentation for all information systems.

Collaborate with vendor support teams to assess, revise, and maintain service level agreements (SLAs), while addressing and resolving technical challenges impacting end-user hardware, software applications, and network connectivity solutions such as MPLS, SD-WAN, and internet services.

Ensure that all PCs, laptops, and servers within the domain or network operate with licensed and up-to-date operating systems, as well as the most current versions of endpoint security software.

Ensure seamless interconnection of all computers with a variety of systems, including associated validation systems, file servers, email servers, application servers, and administrative systems.

Collaborate with the Head of ICT to develop the annual ICT training capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operational expenditure (OPEX) budgets.

Execute any additional tasks delegated by the Systems Administrator or the Head of ICT as needed.

We conduct comprehensive penetration testing and vulnerability assessments on information systems to identify security weaknesses and potential threats. Our evaluations involve systematic analysis of networks, applications, and infrastructure to uncover exploitable vulnerabilities that could compromise data integrity or system functionality. Through simulated cyberattacks and in-depth assessments, we provide actionable insights and recommendations to enhance security posture and mitigate risks effectively.

Overseeing the continuous operations of threat and vulnerability assessments, this role involves maintaining vigilant monitoring and analysis of potential security risks. The position requires coordinating and implementing measures to identify, evaluate, and mitigate vulnerabilities across systems and networks. Additionally, it encompasses the development and enforcement of policies and procedures to ensure robust security frameworks. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate findings effectively are essential for success in this role.

Offer comprehensive technical support to end-users, addressing hardware, software, and network-related inquiries with expertise and efficiency. Troubleshoot issues, perform diagnostics, and resolve technical problems to ensure minimal downtime and optimal system performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to escalate complex issues and implement solutions that enhance user experience. Maintain detailed records of support interactions, solutions provided, and follow-up actions in the ticketing system. Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry best practices, and product updates to deliver informed assistance. Prioritize customer satisfaction by responding promptly to requests and providing clear, actionable guidance.

Plan and oversee the installation and deployment of new hardware and software systems. Manage the firmware updates and application upgrades to ensure optimal performance and security.

Establish and maintain close collaboration with vendors to diagnose and address issues related to software and hardware malfunctions, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to operations.

A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required, and professional certifications such as CPA or CMA are preferred.

The position requires the incumbent to have the following qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology is required for this position.

Requires a minimum of two years of practical experience in the field of Network Administration.

Network and Security Certification: Candidates must hold a valid CCNA, CEA, or an equivalent credential in the field of networking and cybersecurity.

Hands-on expertise in the installation and configuration of network systems is essential, encompassing the setup, optimization, and maintenance of hardware and software components to ensure seamless connectivity and performance.

Skilled in network architecture, protocols, and infrastructure, with a comprehensive understanding of routing, switching, and network security principles. Proficient in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls. Familiarity with LAN, WAN, VPN, and cloud networking environments. Strong problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve complex network issues efficiently. Capable of designing scalable and secure network solutions tailored to organizational needs.

Proven expertise in the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of routers is required.
