Qualification

Must have:

A Master of Arts (MA) degree in Sociology or Development Studies from a reputable and accredited institution is required.

A bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Development Studies, or a closely related discipline from an accredited and recognized university is required.

Minimum of two years of professional teaching experience is required.

Candidates must possess, or be eligible to obtain, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree or an equivalent doctoral-level qualification.

Must hold current registration with the appropriate Professional Body, where such registration is mandated.

Key duties encompass conducting thorough research, analyzing data, and preparing comprehensive reports to support strategic decision-making. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement innovative solutions, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Participating in project planning and execution is essential, along with managing stakeholder communications to maintain transparency and foster productive relationships.

Reporting directly to the Deputy Director of Academic and Research Affairs, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic objectives of the department. The role involves close collaboration with senior leadership to align initiatives with institutional goals, ensuring the seamless integration of academic and research priorities. Key responsibilities include supporting the development and implementation of policies, managing cross-functional projects, and facilitating effective communication between stakeholders to drive institutional excellence.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties and responsibilities essential to the role, including managing daily operations, coordinating team efforts, and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and overall performance, while maintaining clear communication channels with stakeholders at all levels. Monitor progress through established metrics, identify areas for improvement, and recommend data-driven solutions to optimize workflows and achieve key performance indicators. Additionally, prepare and present detailed reports to leadership, providing insights and actionable recommendations to support informed decision-making. Collaborate cross-functionally to foster innovation, address challenges, and drive continuous improvement across the department.

Collaborate on the creation, enhancement, and assessment of educational curricula to ensure alignment with academic standards and institutional goals.

Develop a comprehensive course outline to ensure the thorough and effective delivery of the syllabus content.

Craft engaging and comprehensive learning materials to comprehensively address all topics outlined in the curriculum.

Deliver instruction for undergraduate programs, as well as diploma and certificate-level courses.

Administer and oversee examinations to evaluate students’ comprehension of course materials, providing regular progress reports to the department.

You will oversee student projects and participate in defense meetings to ensure their successful completion of studies.

Conduct research initiatives, develop scholarly publications, and engage in conference presentations to share the resulting insights.

Secure external funding and financial resources to bolster the University’s research initiatives and capacity.

Conduct field studies and evaluate students throughout their attachments, trips, and internships to ensure comprehensive learning and skill development.

Attend and actively engage in official University meetings and functions as required, ensuring representation and participation in institutional initiatives and events.

Monitor attendance records meticulously to verify that students have fulfilled the mandatory lecture attendance requirement of over 80% before they are permitted to take their examinations.

Perform assigned administrative and other duties and responsibilities as needed from time to time.
