Job Description

The temple must embody the reverence, purity, and sanctity befitting its spiritual purpose. Uphold the standards set forth by the First Presidency with unwavering commitment. Lead and oversee all department staff—including Assistant Facilities Managers, Custodial, Grounds, and Security—across one temple or as many as four smaller temples. Oversee capital expenditure R&I projects for facilities, systems, and grounds by conducting inspections, submitting reports, verifying adherence to drawings and specifications, coordinating with local authorities, securing permits, tracking project timelines, and facilitating the delivery and installation of furniture and materials. Routinely supervise the performance and workflow of staff members (potentially including a diverse workforce) and serve as the foremost authority on facility operations.

Responsibilities

Consistently oversee the performance and productivity of team members, which may encompass a diverse workforce.

In collaboration with the Human Resources department, this role is tasked with overseeing the hiring and termination of employees, as well as making recommendations regarding career progression, promotions, or other status changes for those within their direct reporting structure.

The position oversees a team of 10 to 20 employees, providing leadership to two or more direct reports.

Responsible for maintaining the temple and its ancillary structures, comprising approximately 70,000 square feet, including patron housing, a visitor’s center, the temple president’s residence, the Missionary Training Center (MTC), and area offices.

Ensures adherence to established standards consistently, both during periods of high usage and when the temple is not open to the public.

Charged with overseeing the needs and priorities of a select group of three to four primary stakeholders, ensuring alignment between project objectives and their expectations.

Consistently oversee the performance and workflow of team members, which may encompass a diverse range of employees.

Accomplished professionals in Temple Facilities Services will deliver comprehensive on-site and remote training, coaching, and mentoring to enhance job knowledge, skill levels, and overall team performance.

Implements temple maintenance guides and materials while evaluating enhanced maintenance methods, systems, and equipment to ensure optimal performance and adherence to standards.

Oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive annual plan, ensuring thorough management and execution of project and operational budgets. Direct and coordinate activities related to maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repairs for electrical, mechanical, audiovisual, and computer systems to uphold operational efficiency and system reliability.

Overseeing all financial aspects related to department labor expenses, including both contract workers and permanent employees, as well as managing third-party vendor relationships.

Assists in executing all concluding project close-out activities, such as finalizing as-built drawings, organizing project documentation for archival, completing the close-out process, issuing the letter of substantial completion, managing warranty procedures, and preparing a letter of recommendation.

Ensure that all projects adhere strictly to the specified design documents and meet the established standards requirements throughout completion.

Maintains regular communication with the Temple President, other Priesthood leaders, supervisors, and department specialists, as well as representatives from local governments, architects, general contractors, and community leaders, as required.

Delivers consistent updates regarding project advancement, quality benchmarks, identified challenges, and the acquisition of necessary materials and equipment.

Oversee the project timeline to confirm timely completion within authorized deadlines.

Qualifications

Required:

A four-year degree in facilities management, the building industry, project management, or an equivalent discipline is required.

With a minimum of six years of professional experience in facilities management, the ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of the sector. This experience should encompass a broad range of responsibilities, including maintenance coordination, vendor management, and operational oversight. The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in strategic planning, budget administration, and compliance with regulatory standards to ensure seamless facility operations.

A minimum of ten years of combined education and work experience, or an equivalent combination thereof, is required.

A solid grasp of various facilities systems and operational workflows—including boiler and chiller servicing and operations, electrical motor controls, audiovisual setups, electrical distribution networks, and plumbing infrastructures—is essential.

You possess strong verbal and written communication abilities along with proficiency in computer literacy.

Proficient in both spoken and written English communication.

Maintain a polished and professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

The role may involve certain physical demands to effectively fulfill job responsibilities, including extended periods of sitting and the use of computer monitors and related equipment.

Capable of lifting objects weighing up to fifty pounds with or without assistance is required.

Preferred:

Proficiency in temple operations and maintenance is required, encompassing responsibilities such as guest services, facility upkeep, ceremonial support, and administrative coordination. Candidates should demonstrate prior involvement in religious or community service settings, with a focus on cultural or spiritual environments. Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to upholding traditions are essential, along with the ability to manage logistical tasks efficiently.
