Job Summary:

The position oversees partner coordination, external communications, and the planning and execution of events—both virtual and in-person—related to the introduction of family planning (FP) products. Key responsibilities include cultivating strong external relationships with critical stakeholders in health systems, fostering awareness and acceptance of FP product introductions, and ensuring global access to a diverse range of FP methods. The ideal candidate will serve as an engaging and approachable FP communicator, adept at conveying messages through digital channels such as newsletters, webinars, and social media, as well as through in-person meetings and events. This global role involves developing resources and collaborating with external partners across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, as well as with colleagues based in the US and UK.

Oversee and execute key duties and obligations as part of this role, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Manage and deliver on core responsibilities while maintaining high standards of performance and accountability. Handle various tasks and functions essential to the position, contributing to overall operational efficiency and success. Fulfill specific obligations outlined in the role, demonstrating commitment to excellence and professionalism.

As the lead coordinator and facilitator of a global NGO working group dedicated to public sector adoption of the hormonal IUD, you will design, organize, and lead quarterly virtual meetings and annual hybrid gatherings, including agenda development, slide preparation, and supplementary materials. You will also expand and engage the working group’s membership through strategic outreach initiatives. Additionally, you will conceptualize, draft, and distribute a quarterly hormonal IUD newsletter to a global audience, along with activities to grow its readership.

Responsibilities include reviewing hormonal IUD introduction tools and resources with detailed feedback, offering technical support for their development, and creating and facilitating digital learning initiatives—such as webinars, training sessions, and closed forums—for global audiences focused on family planning (FP) product introductions. You will serve as the primary contact for external organizations seeking technical assistance, addressing inquiries, providing resources, or developing new materials to meet program needs.

In this role, you will also lead external outreach efforts, identifying and securing participation in key conferences, meetings, and events to promote FP product introduction goals and resources. This involves managing logistics for sponsorships, exhibition booths, or presentations—including bookings, payments, and shipping—as well as developing physical and digital promotional materials such as handouts, slides, and webpages. You will contribute to routine internal and external outreach and market landscaping to monitor product introduction progress in critical regions.

Moreover, you will coordinate national stakeholders in select African markets and support Ministry of Health officials in preparing for the launch of a novel contraceptive method, specifically a longer-acting injectable. This may involve assisting with quantification exercises, updating guidelines and health information systems, engaging with national regulatory agencies, and developing comprehensive training and introduction plans.

Demonstrates proficiency in applying relevant expertise, techniques, and practical abilities to execute tasks effectively. Exhibits a comprehensive understanding of key concepts and the capacity to translate knowledge into actionable solutions. Maintains a strong command of industry-specific tools and methodologies to enhance performance and deliver measurable results.

Demonstrates mastery of health promotion and education principles, practices, strategies, and techniques, as well as public health communication and coalition-building methodologies on an international scale.

Proficient in conveying ideas clearly and effectively through both verbal and written channels.

Maintains strong collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, such as Ministry of Health representatives.

Proficiency in technical aspects of family planning programs and health systems within East Africa is required, along with foundational expertise in West and Southern Africa. Strong understanding of family planning products and services, coupled with confidence in advocating for and facilitating discussions on long-acting family planning methods, is essential.

Developing digital and print resources for community building and health communication requires advanced expertise, encompassing fundamental graphic design capabilities, sophisticated presentation development and formatting skills, and the ability to ensure all materials and presentations adhere to established brand standards.

A solid grasp of website development and social marketing principles, practices, and techniques is required to effectively develop audience-access strategies.

Proven ability to navigate and respect cultural diversity, coupled with a deep comprehension of the political, contextual, and ethical dimensions inherent in assigned responsibilities.

Fluent proficiency in both written and spoken English is required.

Seeking candidates with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field, supplemented by three to five years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is required, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities are essential for collaborating across departments and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development to stay current with evolving industry trends and best practices.

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree—or its global equivalent—in fields such as public or community health, communications and social marketing, health education or promotion, or a closely related discipline is required.

A Master’s Degree or an equivalent qualification recognized internationally in the specified fields is required.

Minimum of five to seven years of professional experience in health communications or a closely related field is required. Candidates with hands-on experience in communications related to family planning or contraceptive access will be given strong consideration.

Analyzes medium to highly complex issues, necessitating thorough evaluation of multiple variables.

Demonstrates sound decision-making by carefully evaluating and selecting the most suitable methods and techniques to determine the appropriate course of action.

Maintains and cultivates essential relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.

While this role does not entail supervisory duties, it may include offering direction to junior team members.
