The Technical Manager for Ornamentals and Professional Pest Management oversees the design and implementation of Tangent Professional Solutions’ technical support strategy across major East African markets. This position guarantees robust technical positioning for both existing and upcoming products, executes high-caliber trial initiatives, and offers specialized assistance to commercial teams.

This position focuses on cultivating and sustaining robust partnerships with customers, influencers, researchers, channel partners, and internal teams to uphold best-in-class technical support and enhance Tangent’s standing as a dependable solutions’ provider. Additionally, the role plays a key part in scouting emerging technologies, third-party prospects, and potential portfolio expansions that drive business growth.

This role is headquartered in Nairobi and entails extensive travel throughout East Africa.

Accountabilities

Collaborate closely with the SPS Business Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa to craft and implement the five-year strategic vision as well as the corresponding annual business and campaign plans.

Design, develop, and oversee technical support trials in alignment with crop protection and public health initiatives, maintaining budgetary adherence in collaboration with the SPS Business Manager.

Conduct thorough technical evaluations and strategic positioning of both new and established products, utilizing comprehensive assessments such as competitive benchmarking and in-depth market trend analysis.

Provide engaging technical training and interactive engagement programs for customers, influencers, and partners via field days, demonstration sites, workshops, and industry events.

Work collaboratively with the Territory Product Biologist, Regulatory Manager, and regulatory teams in key countries to synchronize development activities and registration priorities.

Develop and nurture a robust network comprising industry professionals, researchers, and internal partners to drive innovation, facilitate knowledge exchange, and uncover emerging opportunities.

Oversee the creation of technical content, such as brochures, presentations, technical bulletins, and media articles, to enhance product usability and drive sales efforts.

Gather, evaluate, and disseminate current market intelligence to guide strategic planning, uncover potential business opportunities and risks, and bolster both promotional and defensive initiatives.

Oversee the technical support budget with precision, allocating resources in a manner that maximizes efficiency and effectiveness.
