Job Summary

The Utility Technician will oversee the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of pharmaceutical water treatment and compressed air systems, ensuring a steady supply of high-quality utilities that meet GMP and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include conducting process monitoring, performing routine sampling and testing, diagnosing and resolving issues, executing preventative maintenance, and documenting operational activities accurately to uphold product quality, safety, and compliance.

Oversee critical operational duties, including managing day-to-day activities, ensuring adherence to established policies, and maintaining strict compliance with regulatory standards. Implement strategic initiatives to optimize efficiency, drive productivity, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align objectives, resolve challenges, and deliver measurable results. Monitor performance metrics, identify areas for enhancement, and recommend data-driven solutions to support organizational goals. Provide leadership and mentorship to staff, cultivating a high-performing team environment while upholding accountability and professional development.

Operate and maintain various water treatment systems, including reverse osmosis (RO), electro deionization (EDI), filtration units, water softeners, ultraviolet (UV) disinfection systems, and distribution loop networks.

Operate and maintain compressed air systems, which encompass compressors, dryers, filters, receivers, and distribution networks, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

Perform regular water sampling and analysis to assess key parameters such as pH balance, conductivity levels, microbial presence, and chlorine residuals.

Maintain compressed air quality in compliance with pharmaceutical regulations, specifically adhering to ISO 8573 and GMP standards.

Conduct regular inspections and carry out preventive maintenance tasks on pumps, valves, filters, membranes, and piping systems to ensure operational efficiency and reliability.

Ensure all operational logs, maintenance records, and test reports are meticulously documented and kept up to date at all times.

Ensure the safe handling of treatment chemicals in strict adherence to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) guidelines.

Assist in the resolution of issues and the enhancement of systems through ongoing troubleshooting efforts and process optimization activities.

Seeking a candidate with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in the field, complemented by a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. The ideal applicant will demonstrate a track record of delivering results in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail. Knowledge of [specific industry standards or regulations, if applicable] is a must.

A Bachelor’s or Diploma qualification in Chemical & Process Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Water Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required.

Requires at least three years of hands-on experience in utilities operations or technician roles.

Proficiency in a pharmaceutical manufacturing setting would be highly beneficial.
