Objective

Our healthcare client is seeking a Theatre Nurse to collaborate within perioperative services, partnering with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the broader multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, efficient, and high-standard patient care throughout surgical procedures.

Key Duties Include: Providing strategic leadership and direction to the team while ensuring alignment with organizational objectives; managing and overseeing day-to-day operations to optimize performance and productivity; developing and implementing policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance operational efficiency; leading project planning, execution, and monitoring to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results; collaborating with cross-functional teams to foster innovation and drive continuous improvement; analyzing key performance indicators to assess progress and identify opportunities for growth; ensuring adherence to regulatory compliance and industry standards; mentoring and coaching team members to enhance their skills and professional development; and maintaining accurate records and documentation to support decision-making processes.

Ensure operating theaters are thoroughly prepared and all equipment undergoes rigorous sterilization to meet procedural readiness standards.

Support surgical and anesthesia teams during procedures by efficiently supplying necessary instruments and ensuring adherence to strict aseptic protocols.

Monitor patients’ vital signs continuously before, during, and after surgical procedures to ensure their stability and safety throughout the perioperative period.

Deliver comprehensive nursing care before and after surgical procedures, encompassing patient education and supportive counselling.

Deliver comprehensive scrub, circulating, and post-anesthesia recovery nursing care across diverse surgical specialties.

Maintain rigorous adherence to aseptic technique and infection control protocols to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.

Attend departmental meetings, engage in continuous medical education (CME) programs, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, proper medication use, and strategies for preventive healthcare to ensure comprehensive understanding and adherence.

Engage proactively in evaluating patients, developing individualized treatment strategies, overseeing their progress, and ensuring consistent follow-up care.

Ensure precise documentation of surgical procedures and patient recovery developments.

Maintain strict compliance with infection prevention and control standards within the theater environment to safeguard patient and staff safety.

Ensure meticulous handling of specimens while maintaining accurate and complete documentation essential for laboratory analysis.

Provide assistance during urgent surgical procedures as needed.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, supplemented by at least three years of professional experience in software development. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++ is essential, along with expertise in frameworks like React or Angular. Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset are also required. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and Agile methodologies is preferred.

Qualified candidates must possess a Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse (KRCHN) diploma to be considered for this role.

Higher Diploma in Perioperative Nursing, encompassing specialized training in surgical care, patient safety, and advanced clinical techniques, is required.

Licensed and registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya.

With a minimum of one to two years of hands-on clinical practice, candidates will possess practical expertise in patient care and medical procedures.
