Job Purpose:

The role of the Senior Manager Forensic Investigations is to provide strategic leadership, oversight, and coordination of forensic investigations within the Bank. The role is responsible for assigning investigations to staff, ensuring adherence to established investigation procedures, and directing and supervising investigative activities to ensure timely, thorough, and professional outcomes. The position entails administrative and managerial responsibility for planning, directing, coordinating, and monitoring investigations, while supporting the team in achieving effective day-to-day performance management. The role also supports the development and delivery of fraud awareness and investigative training programs for Bank personnel to strengthen the Bank’s control environment and fraud awareness culture. In addition, the role is responsible for planning and executing investigative and fraud management initiatives in line with the Bank’s policies, regulatory requirements, and strategic objectives.

Oversee a comprehensive range of duties encompassing strategic planning, operational execution, and performance evaluation to ensure organizational objectives are met efficiently and effectively. Lead cross-functional teams to foster collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across all project phases. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance productivity, quality, and compliance with industry standards. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess progress, identify gaps, and drive data-driven decision-making. Serve as a liaison between senior leadership and departmental teams to align business goals with operational strategies and facilitate transparent communication. Manage resource allocation, budget adherence, and risk mitigation strategies while maintaining a focus on sustainability and long-term growth.

Offer strategic direction and comprehensive oversight for inquiries into fraudulent activities across various banking channels, including payment systems, electronic and card fraud, SWIFT transactions, mobile and digital banking fraud, ATM fraud, check fraud, and unauthorized fund transfers.

Direct and oversee inquiries into suspicious payment activities, unauthorized system breaches, phishing attempts, social engineering tactics, and anomalies in payment processing operations.

Conduct a thorough examination of transaction logs, system audit trails, settlement records, switch reports, card management data, and digital evidence to assess the scope and characteristics of fraudulent activities.

Collaborate with local and international payment schemes, correspondent banks, regulatory authorities, telecommunications providers, and law enforcement entities to conduct comprehensive investigations.

Promptly address and escalate payment-related fraud incidents to mitigate potential financial losses and safeguard the Bank’s reputation.

Conduct thorough assessments of vulnerabilities within payment systems, channels, and processes, then propose and implement tailored fraud prevention strategies and enhancements to strengthen internal controls.

Provide leadership and direction for the safeguarding and examination of digital evidence to facilitate investigations, disciplinary measures, and legal proceedings.

Compose comprehensive investigative reports, analyze emerging fraud trends, provide managerial briefings, and compile regulatory filings concerning payment fraud incidents.

Implement fraud monitoring systems, transaction surveillance protocols, and payment security measures to enhance organizational safeguards against fraudulent activities.

Develop and deliver training initiatives focused on fraud awareness and investigative techniques for employees engaged in payments operations, digital banking, and electronic channels.

Seeking a candidate with a robust academic background and relevant professional experience in the specified field. The ideal applicant will possess a degree in a related discipline, complemented by several years of hands-on experience in a similar role. Proficiency in key industry tools, methodologies, and best practices is essential, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. The ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively within a team is also required. Familiarity with current trends, regulations, and technological advancements in the industry is highly desirable.

A bachelor’s degree in Criminology, Commerce, Banking and Finance, Law, Accounting, or a closely related discipline is required.

Professional qualifications, including Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or ADAMS certification, or comparable credentials, are required.

Demonstrates a solid grasp of forensic investigation methodologies alongside regulatory compliance frameworks.

A proven track record in conducting comprehensive forensic investigations, managing fraud risk, overseeing banking operations, or serving in law enforcement is required.

Skilled in overseeing intricate investigations and leading cross-functional teams within a financial institution setting.
