Position Summary:

The Data Associate plays a pivotal role in ensuring the provision of accurate, timely, and dependable data to guide project execution, performance tracking, and strategic decision-making. In collaboration with the Technical Program Manager and the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Lead, this position is dedicated to enhancing data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting procedures in strict adherence to established MEL frameworks and U.S. data quality benchmarks.

The role plays a key part in sustaining efficient data systems, generating analytical outputs and visualizations, and assisting with field data collection alongside stakeholder coordination. Ideal for an entry-level professional, it calls for robust quantitative abilities, meticulous precision, and the capacity to interpret data in ways that yield actionable insights to strengthen program performance and adaptive management.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties and responsibilities, encompassing the planning, coordination, and execution of critical tasks central to the role. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Lead cross-functional teams to achieve established targets while fostering collaboration and accountability. Monitor performance metrics and provide data-driven insights to optimize workflows and drive continuous improvement. Maintain meticulous records, adhere to compliance standards, and ensure seamless communication across departments to support overarching business goals.

Ensure the prompt, comprehensive, and precise gathering of data from project sites and partners, adhering to established MEL plans and reporting schedules.

Conduct regular data cleaning, validation, and verification processes to uphold superior data quality and integrity, while promptly addressing and resolving any discrepancies in collaboration with data providers.

Maintain datasets and data systems in a well-organized, secure, and current state to facilitate seamless access, reporting, and audit processes, including readiness for Data Quality Assessments (DA).

Assist in conducting regular data analysis and compiling insightful summaries, dashboards, and visualizations using tools such as Excel, Superset, and DHIS2 to guide programmatic decision-making.

Facilitate accurate data entry, extraction, and reporting processes, ensuring compliance with project, national, and donor specifications.

Contribute to on-site data collection initiatives, including surveys, interviews, and validation exercises, to enhance the precision and comprehensiveness of gathered information.

Monitor project metrics, deliverables, and activity advancement in comparison to established targets and schedules; identify and escalate risks, delays, and data discrepancies for timely intervention.

Prepare routine progress updates and reports, emphasizing performance trends, identifying issues, and recommending corrective actions to ensure operational alignment.

Enhance data management and ensure consistency by actively participating in the creation, refinement, and implementation of standard tools, SOPs, and reporting templates.

Collaborate with project teams and external partners to maintain seamless data exchange, uphold reporting standards, and leverage data insights to drive informed decision-making.

Offer comprehensive logistical and administrative assistance for data-focused meetings, training sessions, and stakeholder interactions.

Required: A bachelor’s degree in a related field, along with a minimum of three years of professional experience in a comparable role. Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently, and excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Proficiency in industry-standard software applications is essential, as is a demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Familiarity with regulatory compliance and risk management principles will be considered advantageous.

A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Data Science, Actuarial Science, Public Health, or a closely related discipline is required.

Proven expertise in advanced Microsoft Excel coupled with a practical understanding of data visualization and reporting platforms, such as Power BI, Superset, and DHIS2.

Experienced in cleaning, validating, and preparing both quantitative and qualitative datasets for analytical purposes.

Proficient in utilizing digital data collection tools, data entry platforms, and routine data management systems is required.

Demonstrated expertise in facilitating research initiatives, conducting field data collection, or performing analytical tasks within a well-defined program framework.

Responsibilities include meticulously examining documentation, compiling comprehensive reports, and engaging with stakeholders to verify the completeness and accuracy of data.
