Purpose

The Senior Accountant specializing in Asset Management oversees all asset accounting activities, maintains the fixed assets register, and mitigates risks associated with asset management. This role involves handling accruals and prepayments accounting, ensuring tax filing and regulatory compliance, and preparing financial statements in accordance with the relevant International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Additionally, the position manages accounts payable and expense tracking, strengthens internal controls, facilitates audit processes, and contributes to budgeting and forecasting initiatives aligned with organizational policies.

Job Magnitude

Latitude reports directly to the Finance Manager and collaborates extensively with Projects, Operations, and other internal departments. External engagements involve interaction with suppliers and auditors.

This position plays a pivotal role in upholding financial integrity by ensuring the precise and comprehensive recognition of assets, expenses, and accruals. It directly enhances financial reporting quality, audit readiness, and stakeholder satisfaction by facilitating the timely completion of audits and the establishment of robust internal controls.

Facilitates the preparation, monitoring, and adjustment of budgets and financial forecasts in alignment with organizational objectives.

Oversee and execute a diverse range of responsibilities, ensuring adherence to established protocols and organizational objectives. Lead and coordinate key initiatives, fostering collaboration across departments to achieve seamless operational workflows. Develop and implement strategic plans that enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall performance. Monitor progress through data analysis, identifying trends and opportunities for continuous improvement. Serve as a primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing clear communication and resolving escalated issues promptly. Maintain compliance with industry regulations and internal policies while upholding the highest standards of quality and professionalism.

Execute comprehensive accounting for all asset categories, including fixed assets, intangible assets, and IFRS 16 lease obligations, while ensuring full adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Perform fixed asset verification and assign asset tags to maintain an up-to-date asset register, working in conjunction with the operations team.

Track and monitor accruals and prepayments to ensure their precise recognition and alignment with established accounting policies and procedures. Verify that all financial entries are recorded in the correct accounting periods, maintaining consistency with regulatory and organizational standards. This role requires meticulous attention to detail to reconcile discrepancies and ensure the integrity of financial data.

Oversee the asset management function by maintaining the asset register, generating schedules, producing reports, and conducting reconciliations.

Prepare audit-ready schedules and supporting documentation for assets, accruals, prepayments, and tax-related matters. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting activities to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Maintain adherence to tax regulations by accurately filing VAT and WHT returns, performing monthly reconciliations, and updating internal ledgers as required.

Coordinate asset risk management by ensuring the timely renewal of insurance policies for all assets.

Perform treasury management and regulatory compliance activities for the parent company.

Accurately document and postpone commissions according to the contractual provisions and projected revenue streams.

Handle any additional responsibilities or assignments as directed by management.

A strong command of IFRS is essential, while familiarity with US GAAP is highly advantageous.

A minimum of six years of professional experience in a fast-paced financial setting is required, with particular emphasis on asset management and regulatory compliance.

Proficiency at an expert level in Microsoft Excel is highly advantageous.

Proficiency in utilizing QuickBooks and managing asset management systems is required, along with practical, firsthand experience in these areas.

Proficiency in Oracle is considered a valuable asset.

Proficiency in leadership and project management would be considered a valuable asset.
