The Crisis and Risk Management Support Professional plays a key role in developing, executing, and refining enterprise risk management and crisis preparedness frameworks tailored for MA’s. This position delivers methodical analysis, coordination assistance, and expert guidance to enhance risk-driven decision-making and crisis response capabilities, ensuring alignment with organizational policies, governance structures, and risk tolerance. Additionally, the role assists in compiling consolidated reports and provides structured decision-support materials to senior leadership, including the Executive Board and International Board.
Responsibilities and duties include overseeing key operational functions, ensuring adherence to established protocols, and maintaining high standards of efficiency and accuracy in all assigned tasks. Support the establishment, deployment, and ongoing upkeep of enterprise risk management (ERM) principles, frameworks, and tools. Assist in executing systematic risk identification and evaluation procedures while aiding in the formulation and oversight of mitigation strategies and internal controls. Ensure these measures remain in harmony with governance structures and organizational policies throughout their lifecycle.
Prepare comprehensive risk analyses, design insightful dashboards, and compile consolidated reports for executive leadership; participate actively in risk evaluations, audits, and assurance activities; and maintain meticulous documentation paired with well-structured reporting facilitating informed risk-based decision-making.
Support the creation and ongoing refinement of crisis response protocols, Standard Response Assessments (SRA’s), contingency plans, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Collaborate on crisis simulations and preparedness drills while assisting in embedding crisis preparedness into both operational and programmatic planning efforts.
Provide coordinated analytical assistance during emergency scenarios, compiling situation reports and delivering structured briefings—featuring data-informed and executive summaries—for senior leadership. Additionally, contribute to after-action evaluations and lessons-learned initiatives to enhance organizational preparedness and resilience.
Collaborate with safeguarding, humanitarian action, compliance, audit, finance, communications, and security teams to establish cohesive risk and crisis management strategies, offering expert guidance and resources to Member Associations while streamlining structured information exchange across all entities. Additionally, verify strict adherence to established risk and crisis management policies and escalation protocols.
Develop and enhance an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program aligned with the COST 2017 framework—or its most current iteration—to ensure robust risk oversight. Provide strategic guidance to leadership on harmonizing risk appetite with organizational strategy, operational performance, and protective measures.
Provide guidance on the design, upkeep, and resilience testing of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery strategies, ensuring that essential business operations have a secondary contingency plan validated through consistent tabletop exercises and simulations.
Offer expert guidance on risk management practices while collaborating to establish robust risk mitigation strategies and thorough preparation plans.

Requirements
A master’s degree in Crisis Management, Risk Management, Business Administration, Security Studies, International Relations, Emergency Management, Audit, Compliance, Business Continuity, or a closely related discipline is required.
Seeking candidates with a minimum of a decade of hands-on experience in crisis management, risk management, internal control, audit, compliance, or closely related fields, along with a strong working knowledge of ISO 31000 and ISO 22301 standards and other pertinent frameworks.
With a minimum of five years of hands-on experience, you will have delivered risk reporting and advisory services to high-level international executives, including C- and S-Board members.
Preferred experience includes work with international NGOs or federated systems.
Demonstrates a readiness to undertake travel commitments, accounting for approximately 30 to 35 percent of the role’s obligations.
Fluency in both English and French is essential, with additional proficiency in Spanish considered advantageous.
