Responsible for ensuring adherence to the IRC’s minimum physical security standards at all current and upcoming program locations, including offices, guest houses, warehouses, and other contracted facilities by conducting site inspections and evaluating assessments performed by Country Programs.

Support the Country Programs in revising Standard Operating Procedures and Contingency Plans to maintain consistency and ensure contextual relevance, as requested.

Assess regional discrepancies and create uniform tools, templates, and guidelines that facilitate consistent implementation throughout the area.

Enhance existing IRC security systems, tools, and methodologies through collaborative efforts with Country, Regional, and Global stakeholders to achieve measurable improvements.

Proactively assess evolving risks and significant weaknesses within the designated area, providing strategic recommendations for risk mitigation and control enhancement.

Enhance regional security risk management through robust data-driven strategies to ensure comprehensive protection.

We facilitate the ethical implementation of AI technologies while pioneering novel strategies to bolster security risk management and contextual analysis.

Acting as a delegate for the Regional Safety and Security Director, you will participate in both internal and external meetings and discussions upon request.

Periodically deploy to Country Programs to provide surge support, cover gaps, and assist with high-profile visits.

Act as a strategic thought partner to the Regional Safety and Security Director on regional risk trends, prioritization and resource allocation.

Context monitoring and reporting involves the systematic collection, analysis, and dissemination of relevant data to support informed decision-making. This function requires professionals to track key performance indicators, identify trends, and evaluate outcomes to ensure organizational alignment with strategic objectives. Proficiency in data visualization tools and strong analytical skills are essential to interpret complex datasets and communicate findings effectively. Develop and oversee the creation of an annual regional security report, which encompasses risk analysis, incident trends, key successes, notable challenges, and forward-looking strategic priorities.

Monitor the quality of incident reports submitted through the IRC’s online reporting system and offer support to Country Programs to enhance the timeliness and precision of their reporting.

Ensure that stakeholders in the East Africa region maintain the necessary access permissions for the IRC’s online reporting system and keep the user list current at all times.

Act as the primary regional liaison for addressing system functionality and access management concerns related to the IRC’s online reporting system, escalating issues to Headquarters as necessary.

Each year, analyze reported security incidents comprehensively to detect critical patterns and derive practical recommendations aimed at enhancing the organization’s security risk management framework.

Each quarter, verify that Country Programs submit the necessary data electronically to evaluate adherence to the IRC’s Security Minimum Standards. After receiving the completed submissions, perform a detailed evaluation of the compliance findings and provide the Regional Safety and Security Director (RSSD) with a comprehensive report highlighting key achievements, obstacles, and regional support requirements.

Designing and delivering comprehensive learning and development initiatives to enhance employee skills, performance, and career growth across the organization. This role involves identifying skill gaps, designing tailored training programs, and evaluating the effectiveness of learning solutions to align with company objectives. Additionally, it requires collaborating with business leaders to understand evolving needs, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and ensuring that professional development opportunities support both individual and organizational success.

Assist Country Programs in crafting annual security learning and development plans that align with operational risks.

Conduct a thorough assessment of capacity deficiencies and develop customized training initiatives that align with the specific requirements of the country and region.

You will be responsible for conducting regional and country-level training sessions, including Training of Trainers programs, pending successful completion of IRC’s stringent internal certification prerequisites.

To provide on-site support to Country Programs, ensuring the effective implementation and quality of training initiatives.

Collaborate with the Global Learning and Development team to verify that training programs in the East Africa region align with IRC’s established standards.

The incumbent is responsible for designing and conducting Critical Incident Management Team simulations and exercises at the request of Country Programs and the Region, in collaboration with the Global Director of Incident Management.

Conduct comprehensive after-action reviews and compile detailed learning reports to foster ongoing enhancement and development.

Oversee the implementation of training initiatives throughout the region and provide regular updates on progress to the Regional Safety and Security Director every quarter.

To fulfill this requirement, provide coaching and mentoring to critical personnel, fostering the development of robust, sustainable security capabilities within the country.
