THE OPPORTUNITY
The Railway Coordinator oversees the procurement and scheduling of rail wagons in partnership with Kenya Railways Corporation, ensuring prompt availability, streamlined loading and shunting processes, and punctual customer deliveries.
The role encompasses resolving cargo discrepancies, such as damaged or broken bags, while collaborating closely with both internal and external stakeholders to reduce delays. Additionally, it requires meticulous record-keeping to uphold the efficiency and dependability of rail logistics operations.

Responsible for organizing and safely securing rail wagons in accordance with loading schedules and customer delivery specifications, while collaborating closely with Kenya Railways Corporation.
Coordinate the prompt positioning of empty wagons, oversee loading operations, and manage the shunting process for loaded wagons to ensure timely dispatch.
Develop and oversee wagon movement schedules with a focus on efficiency and timeliness. Actively monitor operations to detect potential delays or bottlenecks and escalate concerns promptly to ensure minimal disruption.
Work closely with rail yard teams, customers, and internal stakeholders to optimize loading and dispatch operations for maximum efficiency.
Ensure precise verification of cargo quantities while confirming the accuracy of all shipping documentation and waybills before dispatch.
Responsibilities include monitoring shipments until final delivery, verifying proof of receipt, and addressing any discrepancies or exceptions encountered along the way.
Conduct thorough examinations of damaged or misplaced cargo, such as broken bags, to identify underlying causes, and assist in resolving claims while implementing corrective measures.
Maintain meticulous and current documentation, encompassing wagon allocations, movement logs, manifests, and reconciliation reports.
Verify adherence to established rail operational protocols, safety regulations, and organizational policies without exception.
Conduct in-depth evaluations of operational performance metrics—such as turnaround times, delays, and losses—to identify trends and inefficiencies. Based on these findings, propose strategic recommendations aimed at streamlining processes, improving productivity, and minimizing unnecessary expenditures.
Conduct incident investigations and lead ongoing improvement projects throughout rail operations to enhance safety and efficiency.
Perform routine inspections at rail yards, loading facilities, and client sites to evaluate operational performance and address any arising challenges.
