The Assistant QA – Hygiene, Sanitation & Compliance position oversees the implementation and supervision of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation protocols throughout the production facility. This role is tasked with verifying that all cleaning procedures, allergen control measures, and environmental monitoring align with established internal criteria and adhere to certification requirements, including BRC, FSSC 22000, and HACCP standards.

Oversee a range of critical duties that encompass driving operational efficiency, fostering team collaboration, and ensuring adherence to organizational standards. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance productivity while maintaining high-quality outputs. Serve as a liaison between departments to streamline communication and align objectives with broader company goals. Ensures strict adherence to hygiene and sanitation standards throughout all operations. Implements and monitors cleaning protocols to maintain a sterile environment. Conduct pre-operational and post-operational sanitation assessments to verify the cleanliness and compliance of all processing equipment and facility surfaces.

Assess the efficacy of sanitation procedures through ATP swabbing, visual assessment, and microbiological surface analysis to ensure compliance with hygiene standards.

Oversee the upkeep and calibration of sanitation monitoring instruments, including ATP meters, pH meters for detergent verification, and temperature probes for rinse water.

Monitor and document sanitation critical control parameters, ensuring all chemical concentrations, contact times, water temperatures, and line dryness meet required standards prior to production commencement.

Collaborate with production teams to maintain strict separation of cleaning zones within the production environment, thereby mitigating the risk of cross-contamination.

Ensures adherence to regulatory standards and maintains meticulous documentation to support operational integrity and compliance requirements across all relevant processes and procedures.

Ensure the master sanitation schedule is consistently maintained and authenticate that daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning procedures for production lines and facilities are executed and properly documented.

Conducts audits and manages Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies. Analyzes audit findings and initiates corrective measures to address deficiencies, while proactively identifying potential risks to prevent recurrence. Implements CAPA plans, monitors their effectiveness, and documents all actions to maintain transparency and accountability. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to foster continuous improvement and uphold quality assurance throughout the organization.

Perform internal audits to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and hygiene standards, specifically adhering to the BRC Food Safety Standard (Issue 9) and FSSC 22000 requirements, with particular emphasis on zoning protocols (high/low hygiene zones) and allergen management within production facilities.

Compile sanitation validation records, environmental monitoring trend data, and chemical usage logs to support the preparation for external audits.

Prepare Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) to document instances of sanitation lapses, including observations such as pest sightings or improper storage of chemicals.

Conduct comprehensive root cause analyses to identify hygiene-related deviations and collaborate with the sanitation team to develop and execute corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) aimed at resolving issues and preventing recurrence.
