Job Summary
Pearl Hospital, a Level 4 multi-specialty facility in Lavinia County, is seeking a Community Oral and Health Officer committed to delivering exceptional oral healthcare services. This role encompasses diagnosing and treating dental conditions, implementing preventive measures, and providing community-based oral health education to foster proper dental hygiene practices. Execute a comprehensive range of duties encompassing strategic planning, operational oversight, and team leadership to drive organizational success. Oversee daily activities, ensuring alignment with company objectives while fostering a high-performance culture through coaching, mentorship, and performance management. Collaborate with cross-functional departments to streamline processes, optimize efficiency, and implement innovative solutions that enhance productivity and profitability. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as needed. Lead project initiatives from inception to completion, managing timelines, budgets, and stakeholder expectations to deliver measurable results. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, internal policies, and quality standards while promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Perform comprehensive oral examinations and evaluate patients’ dental health, ensuring accurate assessment of their conditions.
Diagnose and oversee the treatment of prevalent oral and dental conditions.
Execute both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
Deliver comprehensive oral health education and counselling sessions to patients and communities.
Engage in community initiatives and educational campaigns focused on oral health promotion and dental education.
Maintain adherence to infection prevention and control protocols within the dental unit to safeguard patient and staff safety.
Compile and organize reports, ensuring all documentation is kept current and in compliance with established standards and requirements.
Verify adherence to all stipulations outlined by the Ministry of Health and the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience is mandatory. At least three years of hands-on experience in a comparable role is essential. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools is required. Strong problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail are critical. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for collaborating effectively. The capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently with minimal supervision is expected. Familiarity with current trends and best practices in the field is advantageous.
Hold a recognized degree or diploma in Community Oral Health.
Holding a current, active license and registration from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council is essential.
A minimum of one to two years of hands-on clinical practice in a high-volume dental environment is highly desirable.
Basic life support (BLS) certification is highly beneficial.
Effective communication and strong interpersonal abilities are essential for fostering productive collaborations and maintaining positive relationships with team members and stakeholders.
Proficiency in basic computer operations and prior experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems would be advantageous.
Required skills include strong analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in project management tools. Candidates must demonstrate a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a similar role, along with a proven track record of delivering results under tight deadlines. Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and compliance standards is essential. A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience is mandatory.
