ESL is actively recruiting a skilled and outcome-focused Technical Officer to bolster its technical and operational functions. The appointed individual will oversee equipment maintenance, prepare and manage technical documentation, coordinate operational activities, engage with stakeholders, and uphold the peak performance of company assets. Candidates must demonstrate robust technical expertise in heavy plant maintenance, exceptional analytical abilities, and the capacity to thrive in a high-pressure operational setting. This role is stationed in Mombasa.

As part of this position, you will be responsible for leading and executing a range of critical initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and maintaining high standards of performance. The role requires you to oversee project timelines, allocate resources efficiently, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive deliverables forward. You will be expected to analyze complex problems, propose data-driven solutions, and implement strategies that enhance operational efficiency and productivity. Strong leadership, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities will be essential to success in this role. Additionally, you will serve as a key point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular updates and ensuring transparency throughout the process.

Oversee and manage the organization of maintenance records, job cards, and equipment documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards.

Develop and oversee comprehensive schedules for routine, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime.

Identify and troubleshoot faults, facilitate repair processes, and verify equipment operational readiness.

Tracks equipment utilization, operational efficiency, and adherence to safety protocols.

Oversee the procurement of permits, secure necessary approvals, and ensure adherence to statutory inspection mandates.

Compile regular weekly reports focusing on asset utilization and operational progress to ensure accurate tracking and assessment.

QUALIFICATIONS

A degree in mechanical engineering with a specialization in Plant Option or an equivalent field is required.

Candidates must successfully pass the Government Trade Test in Engineering to qualify for this position. This assessment evaluates proficiency in essential engineering principles and practices, ensuring compliance with national standards. Applicants should possess a strong foundation in technical knowledge and hands-on skills relevant to the role. Passing this examination is a mandatory prerequisite for consideration.

Must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing.

Seeking a professional with five to six years of hands-on experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy machinery.
