SHOCK seeks a community-focused, grassroots professional dedicated to empowering Kenya’s most vulnerable girls by providing essential wraparound support to enroll, attend, and thrive in school. The Scholarship Coordinator will oversee and manage SHOCK’s scholarship program, driving re-enrollment efforts in one of five target counties while serving as on-the-ground support for scholarship recipients. This role will act as a vital link between SHOCK, schools, scholars, and families, fostering strong, genuine relationships to identify and comprehensively support SHOCK scholarship recipients. Embedded within SHOCK’s SUN model of community organizing, the position will maintain a firmly grassroots-based approach to scholar identification and support.
Key Responsibilities and Duties Include:

Develop and maintain robust partnerships with the Scholar Support Ecosystem to foster collaboration and enhance support mechanisms.
Collaborate with SUN Committees to engage with public school leadership—including principals and bursars—in order to facilitate seamless and efficient onboarding processes, as well as to ensure ongoing support for scholarship recipients.
Collaborate with the SUN and Gender department to pinpoint eligible students for assistance.
Partner with the Scholarship Officer, SUN facilitators, and Gender team to develop and implement mentorship initiatives and school holiday programming, overseeing all logistical arrangements.
Collaborate closely with families to empower them in supporting their scholar’s academic progress and overall well-being, clarifying their essential role in the scholar’s mentorship journey.
Foster collaborative relationships with local organizations and governmental bodies that serve at-risk girls, particularly adolescent mothers, to establish and strengthen strategic partnerships aimed at scholar recruitment and ongoing support.
Champion the development and implementation of Case Management strategies while ensuring the holistic welfare and wellbeing of scholars remains at the forefront of all initiatives.
To foster scholar welfare and wellbeing, this role involves providing mentorship to scholarship recipients as needed.
Continuously engage parents and guardians to verify student enrollment and keep them apprised of any developments, promptly escalating unresolved issues to the Scholarship Officer for resolution.
Assess students who may be at risk of discontinuing their education or those requiring psychosocial assistance, and promptly escalate any concerns identified.
Introduce newly awarded scholarship recipients and their families to the program’s guidelines and expectations, facilitating a smooth transition into their academic pursuits while confirming their preparedness for the upcoming school term.
Collaborate closely with SUN committees to foster a shared sense of community ownership and accountability across all initiatives.
Escalate cases requiring attention to the Gender team as necessary, ensuring prompt and accurate referral to address critical issues effectively.
Data Management & Support professionals are responsible for overseeing the monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes to ensure accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting. They establish and maintain robust data systems, verify data integrity, and provide technical support for data-related tools and methodologies. Additionally, they collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate evidence-based decision-making and contribute to organizational learning initiatives through insightful data interpretation.
Oversee the recruitment pipeline, gathering and organizing data from diverse sources in a streamlined and efficient way.
