Job Summary

The Program Officer will contribute to the educational and implementation research objectives of the PEP MTCs program while spearheading institutional-level advocacy initiatives. This position is dedicated to enhancing research methodologies, fostering cutting-edge teaching approaches, and driving greater financial support for cardiometabolic disease (CMD) education and research across CHALK Medical Training Colleges.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of critical tasks and obligations associated with the role, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational standards. Implement and maintain processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and productivity within the designated department or function. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to drive project completion, resolve challenges, and achieve key performance indicators. Monitor progress through established metrics, provide regular updates to stakeholders, and recommend improvements based on data-driven insights. Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Assist in preparing and distributing research findings to shape institutional teaching policies and national CMD strategies.

Advocacy at the MTCs Level involves championing policies, programs, and initiatives that align with organizational goals and drive meaningful change. This role requires a deep understanding of advocacy strategies, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory landscapes to influence decision-makers effectively. Responsibilities include developing and executing advocacy campaigns, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and analyzing policy trends to identify opportunities for impact. Collaborate closely with CHALK MTC leadership, faculty, and students to foster endorsement of curriculum reforms and innovative teaching methods.

Monitor institutional-level progress of research and advocacy initiatives.

Prepare donor reports and institutional publications to ensure accurate and timely communication of progress, impact, and financial updates to stakeholders.

Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, complemented by a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience. Proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The ideal applicant will possess excellent communication abilities to convey complex financial information clearly and effectively, and demonstrate a commitment to maintaining up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards and regulations. Familiarity with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills are highly desirable.

A master’s degree in public health, education, research methods, or a closely related discipline is required.

A bachelor’s degree or diploma in a medical-related field—such as nursing, clinical medicine, or laboratory science—is required for this position.

Minimum three years of professional experience in education research, advocacy, or health systems strengthening is required.

Individuals must possess a comprehensive understanding of communicable diseases (CMDs), non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and the specific workforce development challenges prevalent in Kenya.

Proven expertise in institutional advocacy and collaboration with senior academic leadership.
