A pioneering solar energy firm is in search of a Debt Collections Intern to integrate into their high-energy team, where you’ll significantly contribute to optimizing credit recovery initiatives for their pay-as-you-go solar programs.

Oversee and execute key operational duties to ensure smooth business functioning, including project management, team coordination, and process optimization. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and overall performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align objectives and drive organizational growth. Monitor progress, analyze data, and provide actionable insights to leadership to support informed decision-making. Maintain compliance with industry regulations and internal policies while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Oversee a portfolio of delinquent accounts with the objective of securing prompt recovery of outstanding payments.

Develop and implement robust recovery strategies that align with the Company’s PAGO credit policy to ensure optimal outcomes.

Collaborate with clients to establish mutually agreeable payment schedules, final payoff dates, and financial settlements.

Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and disputes with professionalism, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolution while maintaining a courteous and respectful demeanor throughout all interactions.

Collaborate with sales and technical teams to resolve account-related inquiries and escalate unresolved technical challenges as needed.

In instances of default, after exhausting all available recovery measures, it is advisable to initiate the repossession of the Company’s systems.

Identify and notify the Finance Manager of any customers who have incurred bad debts, are deceased, or are incapacitated so that appropriate measures can be taken.

Monitor daily collection efficiency and compile monthly performance summaries of the portfolio.

Maintain precise records and promptly update customer payment statuses to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Contribute to the accomplishment of monthly collection targets as designated by the supervisor.

Seeking a candidate with a minimum of three years of experience in a related field, along with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, along with excellent communication and organizational abilities. The ideal applicant will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively. Familiarity with project management methodologies and a commitment to continuous learning are highly valued. The role requires adherence to deadlines, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.

A bachelor’s degree or diploma in finance, Credit Management, Business Administration, or a closely related business discipline is required.

Demonstrated expertise in the Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on advanced proficiency in Excel, is essential.

A background in mobile money systems and PAGO repayment structures would be advantageous.

Proven ability to negotiate effectively and build strong interpersonal relationships.
