Role Description

Our client seeks a skilled Bookkeeping Officer for a permanent, full-time position in Nairobi County, Kenya, offering a hybrid work model that combines on-site duties with remote flexibility. This role encompasses the maintenance of precise and current financial documentation, comprising journal entry preparation and posting, ledger updates, and account reconciliation. The Bookkeeping Officer will contribute to financial statement preparation, monitor income and expenditures, and facilitate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures. Additional duties include invoice, receipt, and payment management, adherence to internal controls and regulatory standards, and the use of accounting software to produce management reports. Collaboration with internal stakeholders, addressing finance-related inquiries, and optimizing bookkeeping processes for enhanced efficiency and accuracy are also integral to this position.

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field is required. Candidates must possess 3–5 years of experience within marketing or brand management, with a proven track record of successful campaign execution. Strong proficiency in digital marketing tools and analytics platforms is essential, alongside exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Experience with social media strategy and content creation is highly desirable. The ability to analyze data and derive actionable insights is critical. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools is a plus.

Proven expertise in bookkeeping and journal entries, with a strong capacity to maintain precise and well-structured financial records.

Demonstrates a strong ability to develop, compile, and assist with financial statements and corresponding reports.

Skilled in operating accounting software and applying fundamental finance principles.

A degree or equivalent academic qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline is required; professional certifications such as CPA or ARCA are considered a valuable asset.

Attention to detail is essential, as is a strong aptitude for numerical analysis and problem-solving, coupled with unwavering integrity and a commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality.

Proficient in operating independently and collaboratively within a hybrid work environment, with an emphasis on effective time management and clear communication skills.

Proficiency in Kenyan accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory reporting requirements is advantageous.
