The Position
Reporting to the Senior ICT Officer, the ICT Intern will acquire practical exposure to Information Technology within a fast-paced NGO setting. This internship offers hands-on experience across key ICT functions, such as user support, systems administration, network monitoring, data and systems management, and security operations. Collaborating closely with the ICT team, the intern will support daily functions, contribute to active projects, and advance the organization’s mission by maintaining seamless, secure, and dependable ICT services.
Oversee and execute critical duties and responsibilities with precision and accountability. Lead strategic initiatives to drive operational excellence, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Manage cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact projects while maintaining rigorous compliance with established policies and procedures. Foster a culture of continuous improvement through innovative problem-solving and data-driven decision-making. Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize workflows, enhance productivity, and achieve measurable outcomes. Demonstrate exceptional leadership by mentoring team members and cultivating a collaborative, results-oriented environment.
Deliver technical support to employees regarding common software and hardware-related challenges.
Provide support for the setup, configuration, and ongoing upkeep of both hardware and software systems.
Perform network troubleshooting and maintenance tasks to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
Ensure timely tracking and completion of ICT equipment repairs and maintenance activities.
Offer comprehensive ICT assistance for meetings, events, and field operations to ensure seamless technical operations.
Collaborate with ICT Security Operations by overseeing threat detection, implementing security protocols, participating in audit processes, and maintaining adherence to established organizational standards.
Document all unresolved issues and promptly escalate them to senior ICT staff for further review and resolution.
Execute additional tasks as delegated by the ICT supervisor, ensuring alignment with team objectives and organizational priorities.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is essential, preferably with additional certifications or specialized training. Candidates must demonstrate at least three years of professional experience in a related discipline, showcasing a proven track record of success. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are imperative, along with proficiency in industry-standard software and tools. Prior leadership or project management experience is highly advantageous, as is familiarity with regulatory compliance and industry best practices. The ideal candidate should exhibit adaptability, a commitment to continuous learning, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment.
Individuals should currently be enrolled in or have recently finalized a degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a comparable discipline.
Proficient in both Unix and Windows-based environments, with a solid grasp of fundamental networking principles.
Proven expertise in network infrastructure, personal computer maintenance, Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory administration, desktop operating systems, as well as Cisco routing, switching, and voice solutions.
The position demands exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.
Adaptability and a proactive approach to mastering emerging technologies are essential.
