The preferred candidate will be a meticulous, collaborative professional responsible for managing the complete order lifecycle. This individual will evaluate proposals, negotiate pricing, identify optimal suppliers, assess market trends, track order progress, confirm timely deliveries, authorize payments, and ensure accurate documentation is maintained.

We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team, responsible for a range of critical duties including [list all responsibilities from original, e.g., project management, stakeholder coordination, report preparation, budget tracking, team leadership, client engagement, process optimization, compliance monitoring, and performance evaluation]. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as is the capacity to analyze complex data, identify trends, and propose actionable solutions. Procure and manage the logistics for all approved engineering and maintenance parts and equipment as required.

Facilitate seamless coordination with engineering stores to ensure prompt and high-quality procurement of spares and consumables, thereby sustaining optimal reorder levels and adhering to established lead times for the diverse range of stock items. This involves evaluating part consumption rates, delivery schedules, and clearance durations to optimize acquisition processes and maintain inventory efficiency.

Coordinate the processing and shipment of spare parts for domestic and international orders, and provide timely updates and recommendations to the plant engineer.

Serve as the primary point of contact with engineering suppliers to address and resolve any concerns regarding deliveries, payments, shipping, procurement, or standards, and provide guidance to the plant engineer as required.

Ensure the secure and timely delivery of all domestic and international orders, as required.

Upon receipt of duly signed (approved) purchase requisitions from the chief storekeeper, the incumbent is tasked with soliciting quotations or pro forma invoices as required.

Prepare petty cash (advance) vouchers, subject to authorization by the plant engineer, to facilitate cash purchases of urgent supplies, and conduct necessary reconciliations and tallies.

Ensure timely follow-ups with suppliers and contractors regarding checks and advance payments post-delivery or completion of work, or as stipulated by their terms, to maintain strong professional relationships.

Ensure the engineering department’s procurement activities align with allocated budgets and estimates, maintaining financial discipline through regular consultation with your supervisor.

Ensure the timely provision of necessary parts and equipment while proactively minimizing downtime through swift action whenever required.

Contribute actively to the realization of both company-wide and engineering department objectives, ensuring your efforts align with and support these collective goals.

To develop and submit annual, quarterly, monthly, semi-annual, and weekly procurement plans to the plant engineer.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, along with a minimum of three years of professional experience in software development, preferably with expertise in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are essential. Familiarity with agile methodologies and version control systems like Git is required. Additionally, candidates must possess excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

A Bachelor’s degree in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required.

A qualification in Purchasing & Supplies Management or a professional CAPS certification will be considered a valuable asset.

Experienced in serving as a technical buyer within a manufacturing environment.

Proven expertise in negotiation, commercial acumen, and an unwavering commitment to integrity.

A minimum of five years of professional experience in a related field is required.
