The Role
The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing the following duties:
Collect and process personal data belonging to employees, customers, vendors, or other parties strictly in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, ensuring a valid legal basis exists for such actions.
Oversee the review and revision of data protection policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance and alignment with regulatory standards.
Develop and implement Data Protection Impact Assessments while ensuring full compliance with applicable data privacy regulations.
Ensure the administration of data retention policies aligns with regulatory requirements to maintain compliance with data protection standards.
Assess the current data protection framework, determine any instances of non-compliance or partial adherence, and implement corrective measures as needed.
Design and execute strategies to ensure privacy policies are effectively enacted, aligning with applicable legal standards for data utilization and fulfilling organizational data requirements.
Partner closely with data product development teams to innovate new applications of data that incorporate robust privacy measures.
Conduct a thorough examination of design specifications for emerging data streams to devise robust technical solutions and frameworks aimed at addressing privacy vulnerabilities and proactively mitigating potential future privacy risks.
Accountable for supporting the oversight of data privacy, data protection, data usability, system performance, and the integrity of the privacy solution.
Conduct a thorough assessment of current local practices to pinpoint opportunities for enhancing data privacy management protocols.
Build and nurture collaborative relationships with diverse business units to ensure clear and consistent communication of data protection initiatives and practices.
Engage with industry stakeholders to identify and disseminate best practices in data protection, integrating these insights into the bank’s operations to drive ongoing enhancement while remaining current with evolving industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Perform comprehensive data privacy audits across various bank departments and units to verify adherence to the Data Protection Act 2019, and diligently ensure the resolution of any identified compliance gaps.
Work alongside the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner to address data protection obligations, encompassing registration tasks, responses to regulatory notices, audit preparations, breach reporting, and containment measures in accordance with the stipulations of the Data Protection Act (2019).
You will participate in data protection conferences and webinars to ensure ongoing awareness of industry best practices.

The ideal candidate must meet the following qualifications:
A background in information management, law, data management, social sciences, or related disciplines is strongly preferred, though equivalent practical experience may also be considered.
Proficient in data protection laws and regulatory frameworks is essential.
Proven track record in overseeing and resolving data incidents and breaches with a methodical approach.
Possesses a solid grasp of data processing methodologies, encompassing information systems, data security protocols, and the institution’s data protection requirements.
A minimum of five years of professional experience in business, including at least three years dedicated to data management, compliance, risk management, or information management.
Proficiency in widely used data protection and governance tools, as well as products currently available in the market, is required. Additionally, hands-on experience or working knowledge of data privacy solutions is essential.
Professional interpersonal skills cultivated through experience enable effective interaction with individuals across all organizational levels.
Maintains the highest standards of confidentiality and ethical conduct when handling sensitive and confidential information.
Proven ability to coordinate efforts and manage multifaceted projects with precision and efficiency.
Proficiency in data privacy certification is highly desirable.
