Job Summary

To uphold these standards, we are seeking an Optical Technician to support the delivery of exceptional optical care. This role encompasses dispensing optical products, fitting and repairing eyewear, performing basic optical measurements, and maintaining high standards of customer care for all patients.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties critical to operational success, including strategic planning, team leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to drive organizational objectives. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency, compliance, and performance across departments. Monitor key performance indicators, analyze data trends, and provide actionable insights to senior management to inform decision-making. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement through mentorship, training, and performance management initiatives. Ensure alignment with company values, regulatory requirements, and industry standards while maintaining a focus on sustainability and long-term growth.

Interpret and fill prescriptions written by Optometrists or Ophthalmologists as directed.

Provide patients with guidance in choosing suitable frames, lenses, and optical accessories to meet their individual needs.

Perform precise measurements, including pupillary distance (PD), segment height, and frame fitting dimensions, ensuring accuracy at every step.

Examine, service, and ensure the proper functioning of eyeglasses and other optical equipment through fitting, adjustment, and repair tasks.

Oversee and update accurate inventory records for frames, lenses, contact lenses, and optical supplies.

Before dispensing, thoroughly review and validate optical orders to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Maintain the cleanliness, functionality, and proper upkeep of all optical equipment and tools.

Maintain precise documentation of patient information and medication dispensing, ensuring adherence to the hospital’s established protocols and policies.

Oversee stock-taking and procurement activities related to optical supplies to ensure accurate inventory levels and timely acquisition of necessary materials.

Comply with Infection Prevention and Control protocols and ensure a consistently sanitized work environment.

Engage actively in initiatives aimed at enhancing quality standards within the optical department.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as engineering, computer science, or business administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must possess at least three years of professional experience in project management, with a proven track record of successfully leading cross-functional teams and delivering projects on time and within budget. Strong proficiency in project management software, such as Microsoft Project or Jira, is required, along with excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment are highly desirable.

A recognized institution must award a Diploma or Certificate in Optical Technology or Optician.

Professional registration with the appropriate regulatory authority is required, where applicable.

A minimum of one to two years of experience in an optical clinic, hospital, or eyewear retail environment is highly beneficial.

Proficiency in optical lenses, frames, and contact lenses, along with dispensing methodologies, is essential for this role.

Proven expertise in team leadership and project management, demonstrated through a minimum of five years in a supervisory capacity, is essential. Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a closely related field, complemented by at least three years of direct experience in a relevant industry. Strong analytical abilities, exceptional communication skills, and proficiency in strategic planning are required to drive operational efficiency and team performance. The role demands adaptability in fast-paced environments, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the capacity to mentor and develop junior staff. Familiarity with industry-specific software, data analysis tools, and compliance regulations is highly advantageous.

Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service and cultivate meaningful interpersonal relationships is essential.
