Job Purpose

Seeking a strategic leader to design and execute the Bank’s performance management strategies and policies, fostering staff productivity, talent retention, and motivation while ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory standards, and market benchmarks. This role will cultivate a high-performance culture throughout the organization, closing the divide between institutional goals and employee by overseeing the complete performance management framework, administering incentive and reward systems, and leveraging key data insights to inform critical business decisions.

Oversee a wide range of critical duties, including the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and drive organizational growth. Lead cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with company objectives and foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and high performance. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess progress and identify areas for improvement, while providing data-driven recommendations to senior leadership. Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to streamline processes, reduce inefficiencies, and optimize resource allocation. Maintain accountability for delivering measurable results in accordance with established timelines and budget constraints. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies while upholding the highest standards of professional integrity and ethical conduct.

Facilitates the assessment of employee performance through regular evaluations and feedback sessions, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and fostering professional development. Tracks progress against established goals, identifies areas for improvement, and implements targeted interventions where necessary. Collaborates with managers and HR to design performance improvement plans, address performance gaps, and provide training or mentorship opportunities. Analyzes performance data to inform decisions on promotions, rewards, or disciplinary actions, while maintaining compliance with company policies and employment laws.

Spearhead the design, deployment, and ongoing enhancement of the Bank’s performance management framework to ensure its effectiveness and alignment with organizational objectives.

Ensure the seamless execution of the yearly performance management process, encompassing the establishment of objectives, conducting mid-year assessments, and completing end-of-year evaluations.

Oversee and spearhead organization-wide initiatives to develop and administer performance management and improvement programs through a data-driven methodology, aligning enhancements with current strategic priorities.

Design, implement, and oversee strategic leadership development, employee training, and talent management programs to bridge performance gaps stemming from knowledge deficiencies and capacity limitations, while also enhancing talent acquisition, retention, and career progression initiatives.

Deliver comprehensive training and assistance to line managers and staff to ensure the successful attainment of Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) objectives.

Foster a culture of high performance by implementing robust goal-setting frameworks, conducting thorough performance evaluations, and establishing equitable pay-for-performance programs.

Maintain consistency, fairness, and transparency in performance evaluations and feedback delivery.

Analyze performance metrics to derive actionable insights that drive talent enhancement initiatives, strategic succession planning, and informed reward allocation decisions.

Establish and implement enterprise-wide initiatives designed to cultivate and sustain a high-performance organizational culture.

Develop and execute a structured process to monitor progress from initial goal establishment through mid-year assessments and culminating in year-end evaluations, thereby enhancing individual, team, and overall organizational performance.

To facilitate targeted communication and capacity-building initiatives within the performance management framework, empowering managers to accurately assess and measure individual and team performance while driving productivity and performance optimization.

Perform regular market and industry benchmarking studies for salaries and compensation to guarantee the Bank’s remuneration offerings consistently align with and exceed competitive standards.

Overseeing governance structures and ensuring accurate reporting mechanisms are in place, the role involves maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, documenting organizational policies, and facilitating transparent communication across departments. Responsibilities include conducting regular audits, analyzing performance metrics, and preparing detailed reports for leadership and stakeholders to support informed decision-making. Proficiency in governance frameworks, data management tools, and strong attention to detail are essential, along with the ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into actionable insights.

Prepare regulatory and management reports in compliance with applicable requirements, such as those mandated by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).

Ensure adherence to all relevant tax laws, labor statutes, and financial regulations governing performance management practices.

Ensure precise and safeguarded documentation of performance results is maintained.

Drive the development and production of comprehensive talent analytics that encompass key facets of talent management, such as performance metrics, talent trend analysis, succession planning, and identification of critical roles, along with other relevant talent-related data insights.

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered for the position. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is mandatory, with preference given to those holding advanced degrees or specialized certifications. A minimum of five years of progressive experience in a related industry is required, along with proficiency in key technical tools and software. Strong problem-solving abilities, exceptional communication skills, and a keen attention to detail are essential. Additionally, familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards is highly desirable.
