Perform thorough eye examinations encompassing visual acuity testing, refraction, slit lamp evaluation, and ocular health assessment.
Diagnose and oversee the management of refractive errors, as well as common ocular conditions, adhering to the established scope of practice.
Examine patients to determine their optical needs and subsequently recommend and provide suitable corrective lenses, eyeglasses, and other prescribed optical appliances as medically indicated.
Identify early indicators of ocular conditions and promptly escalate complicated cases to ophthalmologists or dedicated healthcare centers for further evaluation and intervention.
Conduct routine diagnostic assessments, including iodometry and visual field-testing.
Educate patients regarding eye care, preventive strategies, and the management of chronic ocular conditions.
Accurately and promptly document patient records within electronic medical record (EMR) systems to ensure compliance with established standards.
Maintain stringent infection prevention and control protocols within the eye clinic to safeguard patient and staff safety.
Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on optometry equipment to uphold precision and safety standards.
Engage in community outreach programs and health promotion activities focused on eye care to raise awareness and educate the public.
Monitor optical stock levels diligently and oversee the accurate management of lenses and consumables to maintain optimal inventory levels.
Engage in clinical audits, Safe Care evaluations, and ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
Maintain adherence to national optometry regulatory standards and licensing mandates.
Maintain unwavering professionalism, safeguard patient confidentiality, uphold ethical standards, and deliver respectful patient care consistently.
Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with 3+ years of experience in software development. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, and C++ is required. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience with version control systems like Git are essential. Additionally, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are imperative. Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, are also necessary to thrive in this role.
Earned an accredited Diploma or Degree in Optometry from a reputable institution.
A current and active practicing license issued by the Optometrists Association of Kenya or another pertinent regulatory body is required.
A minimum of two years of professional experience within a hospital or an accredited eye care facility is required.
Proficient in refractive methodologies and the identification of ocular diseases.
Skilled in utilizing Electronic Medical Records systems and performing optical dispensing procedures is essential.
Demonstrates exceptional proficiency in patient communication and counseling, fostering trust and clarity in all interactions.
A strong commitment to professionalism, meticulous attention to detail, and adherence to ethical standards are essential.
