Purpose of the Job
The ICT Assistant – Network Administration reports directly to the Head of ICT and plays a key role in evaluating information risks while coordinating the remediation of identified vulnerabilities to strengthen IT security and mitigate risks across Kenya Tea Packers. Additionally, this position collaborates with the Database Administrator and Business Intelligence & Reporting teams to ensure seamless ICT system support. The role is also responsible for maintaining secure network connectivity within all Keep offices and safeguarding the integrity and security of company systems.
Oversee and execute key operational duties, ensuring adherence to established protocols and standards. Facilitate the coordination of workflows, manage cross-functional teams, and monitor performance metrics to drive efficiency and productivity. Prepare detailed reports, analyze data trends, and present actionable insights to stakeholders to support strategic decision-making. Collaborate with department heads to align objectives, allocate resources effectively, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Additionally, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies while maintaining high levels of accuracy and professionalism in all tasks.
Evaluates connectivity KPIs, including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency to ensure optimal network performance. Additionally, oversees the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of ICT equipment through strategic planning and execution.
Oversee and administer all communications while addressing networking issues by proactively implementing preventive measures for the IT network, systems, and software applications.
Present detailed analyses and actionable recommendations regarding identified vulnerabilities to the Head of ICT to facilitate prompt corrective measures.
Conduct comprehensive vulnerability assessments utilizing established IT security tools and methodologies to identify and document any IT security and risk exposures present across the network, systems, and software applications.
Conducts consultations with users to define precise network specifications, evaluating workflow patterns, data access needs, and security protocols. Develops router administration frameworks by configuring interfaces and implementing routing protocols to meet organizational demands.
Maintains optimal network performance through diligent monitoring, analysis, and performance tuning, while swiftly troubleshooting any network-related issues. Additionally, the role involves escalating unresolved problems to external vendors as necessary.
Secures network integrity by designing, implementing, and overseeing network access protocols, continuous monitoring systems, and rigorous control measures, while ensuring all documentation remains current and accurate.
Conduct routine evaluations of firewall configurations, rules, and logs in collaboration with the Head of Enhance Cyber Defense and Security to establish access privileges, control frameworks, and resource allocations.
Collaborate with the ICT Manager to evaluate and propose enhancements for existing ICT policies, including the Disaster Recovery Plan, the Company’s Technology Infrastructure and Systems strategy, and the Business Continuity Planning (BCP) Standard Operating Procedures.
The incumbent will manage the ICT support helpdesk system by entering, updating, and tracking requests to ensure seamless operations. Additionally, they will deliver prompt, reliable, and ongoing assistance to all users of the information and telecommunication systems, maintaining high standards of service excellence.
Deliver introductory training and technical assistance to users on network access and software application utilization while collaborating with the ICT Manager to ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation of all information systems is maintained.
Collaborate with vendor support representatives to review and revise service level agreements while addressing technical issues related to end-user hardware, software, and network infrastructure such as MPLS, SD-WAN, and internet connectivity.
Ensure that all PCs, laptops, and servers within the domain or network operate on licensed and up-to-date operating systems while maintaining the latest versions of endpoint security software.
Ensure seamless interconnection of all computers with various systems, including validation systems, file servers, email servers, application servers, and administrative systems.
Collaborate with the Head of ICT to develop the annual ICT training capital expenditure and operational expenditure budgets.
Execute any additional tasks delegated by the Systems Administrator or the Head of ICT as required.

Provide technical assistance to end users by addressing and resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues efficiently. Diagnose problems through remote troubleshooting or on-site visits, ensuring minimal disruption to operations. Maintain detailed records of support interactions in the ticketing system, adhering to established service level agreements. Collaborate with team members to escalate complex issues to appropriate specialists when necessary. To oversee the installation and deployment of new hardware and software solutions, you will manage the coordination of firmware updates and application upgrades to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
