The ICT Assistant – Network Administration position, which reports to the Head of ICT, is tasked with evaluating information risks and coordinating the remediation of identified vulnerabilities related to IT security and risks across Kenya Tea Packers. This role involves collaborating with the Database Administrator, Business Intelligence, and Reporting teams to manage ICT system support effectively. Additionally, the position is responsible for ensuring secure network connectivity within Keep offices, as well as maintaining the integrity and security of the company’s systems.
Oversee and execute core duties and responsibilities essential to the position, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and performance standards. Facilitate daily operations by managing key tasks, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and maintaining adherence to established policies and procedures. Conduct regular evaluations of workflows to identify opportunities for enhancement, while providing guidance and support to team members to foster productivity and professional development. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety protocols, and quality assurance measures to uphold operational integrity. Evaluates key connectivity performance indicators—including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency—to ensure optimal network functionality. Additionally, oversees the strategic selection, installation, configuration, and testing of ICT equipment to maintain system reliability and efficiency.
Oversee all communications and troubleshoot networking issues by proactively implementing preventative strategies for the IT Network, systems, and software applications.
Present detailed findings and recommendations regarding identified vulnerabilities to the Head of ICT for implementation of corrective measures.
Conduct vulnerability assessments employing IT security tools and established methodologies to identify and document any IT security or risk vulnerabilities present within the network, systems, and software applications.
Establishes network specifications by collaborating with users, evaluating workflow, access, information, and security needs, and designing router administration, which includes configuring interfaces and selecting routing protocols.
Maintains optimal network performance through proactive monitoring and analysis, as well as performance tuning; resolves network issues efficiently; and escalates unresolved problems to external vendors as needed.
Develops and implements network access protocols while continuously monitoring and evaluating network performance to ensure security. Maintains comprehensive and up-to-date documentation of network configurations and security measures to support operational integrity and compliance.
Conducting regular assessments of firewall rules, configurations, and logs in partnership with the Head of Enhanced Cyber Defense and Security to establish access privileges, control frameworks, and resource allocations.
Support the ICT Manager by evaluating and proposing enhancements to critical ICT policies, including the Disaster Recovery Plan, the Company Technology Infrastructure and Systems Strategy, and the Business Continuity Planning Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
The ICT support helpdesk system is maintained, updated, and monitored to ensure seamless operations. Additionally, the role involves delivering prompt, professional, and ongoing assistance to all users of the information and telecommunication systems.
Deliver foundational training and technical assistance to users on network access and the operation of multiple software applications while collaborating with the ICT Manager to ensure accurate documentation of all information systems.
Collaborate with vendor support representatives to assess and revise service level agreements (SLAs) while addressing technical challenges related to end-user hardware, software, and MPLS/SD-WAN/internet connectivity.
Ensure that all PCs, laptops, and servers within the domain and network operate with licensed and up-to-date operating systems and the latest endpoint security versions.
Verify that all computers integrate smoothly with a variety of systems, including validation systems, file servers, email servers, application servers, and administrative systems.
Collaborate with the Head of ICT to develop the annual ICT training capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operational expenditure (OPEX) budgets.
