The Clinical Officer will report directly to the Deputy Director of Human Resource Management, with the primary responsibility of delivering clinical services to employees of the Institute and their dependents as required, thereby fostering a healthier workforce.

The officer’s role will encompass a comprehensive range of duties and responsibilities, including:

Overseeing the daily operations and activities of the Clinic constitutes a primary responsibility, ensuring seamless functioning and adherence to established protocols.

The annual budget, work plan, and procurement plan for the Clinic are developed and prepared as part of the responsibilities for this role.

Performing necessary minor surgical procedures is a key responsibility of this role.

Ensuring employees and their dependents receive proper care, the role involves conducting thorough patient histories, performing detailed examinations, accurately diagnosing conditions, and recommending suitable treatment plans.

Staff members are directed to the appropriate healthcare providers or facilities to ensure the correct care and treatment for themselves and their dependents.

Ensuring compliance with established standards and procedures, this role involves overseeing and/or coordinating the dispensing of prescribed medications.

To maintain optimal use of medical supplies, preventing loss, damage, or unnecessary waste of the Institute’s resources,

Responsible for validating received goods by authorizing invoices, thereby confirming that the billed amount accurately corresponds to the quantity and value of the delivered items.

Responsibilities include reviewing and authorizing requisitions for pharmaceuticals, laboratory supplies, and other essential medical commodities to ensure seamless clinical operations.

Reviewing and processing medical claims and reimbursements, ensuring all documentation is accurately completed and validated for compliance with established standards.

Planning and conducting sensitization sessions for staff on diverse health-related topics in collaboration with pertinent government agencies to bolster employee awareness.

Offering guidance and support to staff regarding health-related concerns to avert potential disruptions in the workplace.

Convene and perform comprehensive health assessments focused on identifying the prevalence of alcohol, drug, and substance misuse among the workforce, thereby establishing critical data to guide subsequent interventions and policy decisions.

To safeguard environmental integrity and reduce risk of incidents, responsibilities include meticulously managing and disposing of hazardous waste in accordance with regulatory standards.

In accordance with Ministry of Health regulations, clinical reports are prepared to ensure compliance and accuracy. This essential task involves compiling and documenting clinical data following established healthcare standards and protocols.

Responsible for overseeing and systematically arranging the duty roster for clinic staff members to ensure optimal coverage and operational efficiency.

Person Specifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

A recognized institution must have awarded a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or an equivalent qualification.

A recognized institution must award a minimum GCSE grade of C+ (Plus) or its equivalent.

Registered with the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya;

A current, active license to practice issued by the College of Chiropractors (COC) is required.

Certificate in Computer Applications is required; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential.

Ensure compliance with all provisions outlined in Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Proficient in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability, with a strong ability to collaborate across teams and communicate effectively.
