Job Summary

The Program Officer will facilitate the educational and implementation research initiatives of the PEP MTCs program while spearheading institutional-level advocacy efforts. This position is dedicated to enhancing research methodologies, fostering innovative teaching approaches, and securing greater resources for cardiometabolic disease (CMD) education and research across CHALK Medical Training Colleges.

Oversee and execute critical tasks and functions essential to the role, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Provide strategic direction and operational support to enhance productivity and efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality outcomes while maintaining adherence to established policies and procedures. Monitor performance metrics and implement improvements as necessary to meet departmental goals. Serve as a key point of contact for stakeholders, addressing inquiries and resolving issues in a timely manner. Participate in decision-making processes to drive innovation and sustainable growth. Advocacy plays a crucial role in shaping the outcomes of MTCs, ensuring that the needs and perspectives of all stakeholders are effectively represented and addressed. At this level, advocacy involves strategic engagement with policymakers, community leaders, and organizational partners to promote equitable policies and sustainable solutions. Professionals in this role are responsible for developing and implementing advocacy campaigns, analyzing legislative trends, and fostering collaborative relationships to advance shared goals. Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills are essential, along with a deep understanding of systemic issues and the broader social impact of advocacy efforts. Advocate for enhanced institutional funding and support for CMD education and research initiatives.

Collaborate closely with CHALK MTC leadership, faculty, and students to garner backing for curriculum reforms and pioneering teaching methodologies.

Key responsibilities include designing and delivering training programs, fostering partnerships, and providing technical assistance to strengthen institutional capacity. Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of relevant experience in capacity-building initiatives, along with expertise in program development and stakeholder engagement. Oversee the continuous tracking and documentation of performance metrics, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all reports. Compile, analyze, and present data to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner, highlighting key trends, deviations, or opportunities for improvement. Verify data integrity through regular audits and validation processes, maintaining compliance with established standards and protocols. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant information, resolve discrepancies, and refine reporting frameworks as needed.

Monitor institutional-level research and advocacy initiatives to assess their progress and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

Prepare documentation for programs by compiling reports, case studies, and success stories for inclusion.

Prepare comprehensive donor reports and institutional publications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to organizational standards.

Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, complemented by a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in software development. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++ is essential, along with expertise in database management and system architecture. Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality technical solutions are required. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and version control systems like Git is highly desirable.

A master’s degree in public health, education, research methods, or a closely related discipline is required.

A relevant bachelor’s degree or diploma in fields such as nursing, Clinical Medicine, or Laboratory Science is required.

A minimum of three years of professional involvement in education research, advocacy, or efforts to strengthen health systems is required.

Professional experience in addressing communicable diseases (CMDs), non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and key workforce development challenges across Kenya is essential.

Experience with institutional advocacy and collaboration with senior academic leadership is essential.
