Our client, a prominent telecommunications provider, is seeking to appoint an Activation Team Lead to drive operational excellence and team performance.

Reports directly to the Area Sales Manager, ensuring alignment with regional sales objectives and strategies. This role involves regular communication with leadership to discuss performance metrics, challenges, and opportunities for growth. The position requires a proactive approach to executing sales plans while maintaining accountability for results under the guidance of the Area Sales Manager.

Job purpose

To concentrate on conducting channel visits aimed at enhancing retailer awareness and improving SIM and Float turnaround times, ensuring optimal visibility and merchandising standards are upheld at the point of purchase for SOS and Trash agents.

Oversee a comprehensive range of duties encompassing strategic planning, operational execution, and performance evaluation to ensure organizational objectives are met efficiently and effectively. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to optimize workflow, enhance productivity, and maintain compliance with industry standards. Lead cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement through clear communication and motivational leadership. Monitor key performance indicators to identify trends, address challenges proactively, and drive data-informed decision-making for sustainable growth. Serve as a primary liaison between senior management and operational staff, translating high-level directives into actionable plans while ensuring alignment with overarching business goals.

Effectively oversee the identification, recruitment, and mapping process of Agents, focusing on mobile money outlets as well as high-traffic retail stores.

Regularly conduct field visits to SOS and Agents according to established route plans (beat plans) to ensure coverage and engagement.

We equip SOS and Trash Agents with the necessary transaction tools and deliver comprehensive training on the required processes.

Conduct anti-money laundering (AML) training sessions and assessments for agents, focusing on AML protocols and the Know Your Customer (KYC) process as they pertain to SIM REG compliance.

Monitor and maintain float and stock coverage to ensure sufficient availability. Implement and strictly adhere to the 1.5x stock rule for agents while guaranteeing Sales Support Officers (SOS) possess adequate stock SIMs for new registrations and activations.

Develop and uphold merchandising standards by ensuring the availability of promotional materials at SOS and Agent outlets.

Seeking candidates with a robust academic background complemented by relevant professional experience. Ideal applicants will possess degrees in pertinent fields, along with demonstrated expertise in practical, hands-on settings. A strong foundation in theory, paired with real-world application skills, is essential for success in this role. Professional certifications or advanced training in the field are highly advantageous.

A degree in Business, Marketing, or a closely related field at the diploma or bachelor’s level is required.

Experienced in van sales or an equivalent sales position, demonstrating a strong track record of success.

Holding a valid driver’s license is essential for this position, ensuring the ability to operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with all applicable traffic laws.

Experience

With a minimum of one year of professional experience in sales and distribution, preferably within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) or telecommunications sectors, you will bring valuable expertise to this role.
