What You’ll Do
At DAKOTA, you will spearhead a team of backend engineers, guiding projects ranging from Greenfield initiatives to legacy system modernizations, overseeing every stage of the software lifecycle—from conceptual design to deployment and eventual retirement. Our engineering teams operate within a mature DevOps framework, where infrastructure as code, robust observability, rigorous automated testing, and streamlined continuous delivery are prioritized as foundational elements rather than secondary considerations.
You will establish the technical vision and guide architectural decisions, collaborate extensively with the Product Manager to align on roadmap priorities and trade-offs, and foster a servant leadership approach that empowers your team to achieve their potential while delivering robust, high-impact software solutions.
The technical environment encompasses a diverse array of systems, tools, and platforms integral to the organization’s operations. Familiarity with cloud services, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, is essential, along with proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell. Experience with containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes, is highly valued, as is expertise in CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, and infrastructure as code (IAC) frameworks like Terraform or Ansible. Additionally, a solid grasp of networking principles, cybersecurity best practices, and troubleshooting methodologies is required.
Languages and frameworks proficiency includes C and the .NET framework.
We operate within the Azure cloud environment and value candidates with proficiency in AWS or GCP.
We specialize in event-driven architectures and microservice development, leveraging Azure Service Bus for messaging. Familiarity with comparable messaging platforms, including Kafka or RabbitMQ, is advantageous.

What You Need
We seek a seasoned engineering leader with technical expertise and a strong commitment to developing talent, demonstrating humility and a collaborative mindset.
Required experience includes a minimum of five years in a leadership role, preferably within the operations or project management sectors, where you have successfully led teams and delivered measurable outcomes. Additionally, candidates must possess strong analytical abilities, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the capacity to drive process improvements while maintaining high standards of efficiency. Familiarity with industry-specific software and tools, as well as a proven track record in budget management and strategic planning, are also essential. A bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field is required, and advanced certifications or an MBA are highly desirable. Experience in change management and stakeholder engagement is preferred.
Experienced professionals with a robust practical foundation in C and .NET backend development are sought.
