The Position

Reporting directly to the Senior ICT Officer, the ICT Intern will acquire practical exposure to Information Technology within a fast-paced NGO setting. This structured internship aims to broaden the intern’s understanding of essential ICT functions, such as end-user support, system administration, network monitoring, data and system management, and cybersecurity operations. Collaborating closely with the ICT department, the intern will participate in daily workflows, contribute to active projects, and advance the organization’s strategic goals by maintaining efficient, secure, and dependable ICT infrastructure.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties and responsibilities, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational standards. Responsibilities include managing daily workflows, coordinating cross-functional teams, and maintaining rigorous adherence to policies and procedures. Additionally, the role demands meticulous attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and effective communication to foster collaboration and drive productivity. Candidates must possess a proven track record in [specific skill or experience], strong analytical abilities, and the capacity to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Offer technical support to staff members regarding common software and hardware-related challenges.

Provide support for the setup, configuration, and ongoing management of both hardware and software systems.

Provide assistance in diagnosing and resolving network-related issues while ensuring the system’s ongoing stability and functionality.

Conduct follow-up actions regarding the repair and maintenance of ICT equipment.

Offer ICT support for meetings, events, and field activities as required.

Support ICT security operations by actively monitoring threats, enforcing established security policies, contributing to audit processes, and maintaining compliance with organizational standards.

Document all unresolved issues and ensure their timely escalation to senior ICT personnel for further review and resolution.

Handle any additional tasks or assignments delegated by the ICT supervisor as needed.

Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field, along with a minimum of five years of professional experience in a related discipline. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools is required, as is the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Prior leadership or project management experience is preferred. A commitment to continuous learning and adaptability to evolving industry trends is also expected.

A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline is currently being pursued or has recently been completed.

Proficient in both Unix and Windows-based applications, along with a solid grasp of fundamental networking principles.

Proficient in networking infrastructure, PC troubleshooting, Microsoft Windows Server administration, Active Directory management, desktop operating systems, as well as Cisco routing, switching, and voice technologies.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.

Demonstrates a proactive approach to acquiring new skills and adjusting to emerging technological advancements.
