Purpose of the Job
The ICT Assistant – Network Administration, under the supervision of the Head of ICT, is tasked with evaluating information risks and streamlining the remediation of identified vulnerabilities to enhance IT security and manage risks across Kenya Tea Packers. In collaboration with the Database Administrator and Business Intelligence & Reporting teams, the incumbent will coordinate ICT system support. Additionally, the role encompasses ensuring secure network connectivity within Keep offices, as well as safeguarding the integrity and security of the company’s systems.
Responsibilities include executing core operational tasks, managing assigned projects, and ensuring compliance with established protocols and deadlines. The position requires the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to support decision-making. Additionally, the role demands strong communication and organizational skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams effectively. Evaluates key network performance indicators—availability, utilization, throughput, and latency—to ensure optimal connectivity. Oversees the meticulous selection, installation, configuration, and testing of ICT equipment through strategic planning and execution.
Monitor and oversee all communications infrastructure while addressing any networking issues by proactively implementing robust preventive measures for IT networks, systems, and software applications.
Present detailed findings and actionable recommendations regarding detected vulnerabilities to the Head of ICT for implementation of corrective measures.
Conduct vulnerability assessments by utilizing advanced IT security tools and established methodologies, identifying and documenting any security or risk concerns present within the IT network, systems, or software applications.
Establishes network specifications by collaborating with users to evaluate workflow, access, information, and security requirements, then developing router administration designs that include interface configuration and routing protocols.
Maintains optimal network performance through continuous monitoring, analysis, and performance tuning, while promptly resolving network issues and escalating unresolved problems to external vendors for further resolution.
Implements robust network security measures by establishing access protocols, continuously monitoring network activity, enforcing stringent controls, and conducting thorough evaluations—while ensuring all documentation remains current and accurate.
Responsibilities include conducting regular audits of firewall rules, configurations, and logs in collaboration with the Head of Enhanced Cyber Defense and Security to establish access privileges, control frameworks, and resource allocations.
Support the ICT Manager in evaluating and proposing enhancements to the organization’s ICT policies, including the Disaster Recovery Plan, the ICT strategy for the company’s technology infrastructure, and the Systems & Business Continuity Plan (BCP) Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
We are responsible for entering, updating, and tracking issues within the ICT support helpdesk system while ensuring timely and consistent assistance is provided to all users of our information and telecommunication services.
Provide foundational training and assistance to users on network access and software application usage, while supporting the ICT Manager in managing documentation for all information systems.
Collaborate with vendor support representatives to assess and revise Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and address technical challenges impacting end-user hardware, software, and network services, including MPLS, SD-WAN, and internet connectivity.
Ensure that all PCs, laptops, and servers within the domain or network are equipped with licensed and up-to-date operating systems, as well as the latest versions of endpoint security software.
Ensure the seamless interconnection of all computers with a variety of systems, including validation systems, file servers, email servers, application servers, and administrative systems.
Collaborate with the Head of ICT to develop the annual ICT training capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operational expenditure (OPEX) budgets.
Execute additional tasks as directed by the Systems Administrator or the Head of ICT, as required.

The job holder must possess;
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology is required for this position.
A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in network administration is required.
Network and Security Certification: Candidates should possess either a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) credential or a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEA) certification.
Proficiency in executing network installations and configurations is essential, with practical expertise in setting up and optimizing network systems being a key requirement.
Possesses extensive expertise in network infrastructure, protocols, and systems, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of LAN, WAN, and other networking technologies.
