We are seeking a highly motivated individual to fill this critical role, designed to drive strategic initiatives and enhance operational excellence. The successful candidate will be responsible for spearheading key projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. The ICT Assistant – Network Administration reports to the Head of ICT and is tasked with evaluating information risk while coordinating the remediation of identified vulnerabilities to mitigate IT security and risk concerns across Kenya Tea Packers. This role involves collaborating with the Database Administrator, Business Intelligence, and Reporting teams to provide ICT system support. Additionally, the position ensures secure network connectivity both within and between Keep offices, as well as the integrity and security of the company’s systems.

Overseeing a comprehensive range of duties and responsibilities, the incumbent will be tasked with managing key operational functions, ensuring adherence to organizational policies, and fostering a productive work environment. The role demands meticulous attention to detail, strong problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments. Essential requirements include a minimum of five years of relevant experience, proficiency in industry-specific software, and demonstrated leadership in driving project execution. Additionally, the position necessitates exceptional communication skills, the capacity to prioritize tasks under tight deadlines, and a commitment to upholding high standards of accuracy and efficiency in all deliverables.

Evaluates key connectivity performance indicators, including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency, to ensure optimal network performance. Additionally, oversees the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of ICT equipment to maintain system reliability and efficiency.

Oversee and maintain all communications while addressing networking issues by proactively applying preventive measures to IT networks, systems, and software applications.

Present comprehensive analyses and actionable recommendations regarding discovered vulnerabilities to the Head of ICT for prompt corrective implementation.

Conduct thorough vulnerability assessments utilizing established IT security tools and methodologies to identify and document any IT security or risk exposures present within the network infrastructure, systems, and software applications.

Consults with users to define network specifications, evaluates workflow patterns, access needs, data requirements, and security protocols, and crafts router administration strategies encompassing interface configuration and routing protocol design.

Maintains optimal network performance through continuous monitoring and analysis, as well as performance tuning. Troubleshoots network issues and escalates unresolved problems to vendors for resolution.

Develops and implements network access protocols, continuously monitors network activity, enforces security controls, and conducts thorough evaluations to safeguard the infrastructure while ensuring all documentation remains current and accurate.

Periodic examination of firewall rules, configurations, and logs in collaboration with the Head of Cyber Defense to strengthen security measures by establishing access privileges, control frameworks, and resource allocations.

Provide support to the ICT Manager in evaluating and proposing enhancements to all ICT policies, including the Disaster Recovery Plan, the Company Technology Infrastructure and Systems Strategy, and the Business Continuity Planning Standard Operating Procedures.

The role involves entering, updating, and tracking records within the ICT support helpdesk system while delivering prompt, reliable, and ongoing assistance to all users of information and telecommunication systems.

Deliver foundational training and assistance to users on network access and software application usage, while supporting the ICT Manager in the upkeep and organization of documentation for all information systems.

Collaborate with vendor support teams to assess and revise Service Level Agreements (SLAs), while troubleshooting technical issues related to end-user hardware, software, and MPLS, SD-WAN, and internet connectivity.

Ensure that all PCs, laptops, and servers within the domain or network operate with licensed and up-to-date operating systems, as well as current versions of endpoint security software.

Ensure seamless interoperability of all computers with a variety of systems, including validation systems, file servers, email servers, application servers, and administrative infrastructure.

Collaborate with the Head of ICT to develop the annual ICT training capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operational expenditure (OPEX) budgets.

Execute additional tasks as directed by the Systems Administrator or the Head of ICT, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives and operational priorities.

These evaluations involve simulating cyberattacks and analyzing system vulnerabilities to ensure robust protection against unauthorized access or data breaches.

Managing the ongoing operations related to identifying and mitigating threats and vulnerabilities is a key responsibility of this role. The position involves overseeing the implementation of security measures to address potential risks and ensuring systems remain protected against emerging threats. Additionally, the job requires coordinating with cross-functional teams to assess vulnerabilities, prioritize remediation efforts, and maintain compliance with security policies and industry standards. Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to risk management are essential for success in this position.

Deliver comprehensive technical assistance to end users, addressing and resolving hardware, software, or connectivity issues through troubleshooting, diagnostics, and system analysis. Respond to inquiries via phone, email, or chat, ensuring prompt and effective communication to minimize downtime and enhance user productivity. Maintain detailed records of support interactions in the help desk system, documenting issues, solutions, and follow-up actions for future reference. Collaborate with IT teams to identify recurring problems and implement preventive measures, such as updates or process improvements, to reduce recurring incidents. Possess strong problem-solving skills, proficiency in diagnostic tools, and a deep understanding of operating systems, network configurations, and common applications. Prioritize customer satisfaction by providing clear, concise guidance and maintaining a professional demeanor in all interactions.

Develop and oversee the deployment of new hardware and software solutions, ensuring seamless integration and operational readiness. Manage the scheduling and execution of firmware updates as well as software upgrades to maintain system performance and security.

Collaborate closely with external vendors to address and rectify issues pertaining to software and hardware malfunctions, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to operations.

Familiarity with machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch is highly desirable. The ideal candidate is required to have a comprehensive suite of qualifications, including a relevant degree or equivalent professional experience, along with specialized skills pertinent to the role.

A Bachelor’s Degree in either Computer Science or Information Technology is required for this position.

Minimum of two years’ experience in the field of network administration is required.

Network & Security Certification: Candidates must possess either a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEA) credential.

We seek candidates with practical expertise in the installation and configuration of network systems.

Excellent proficiency in network infrastructure, including protocols, topologies, and security measures, is required. Candidates should possess a deep understanding of routing and switching technologies, as well as hands-on experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools. Familiarity with industry standards such as TCP/IP, OSI model, and LAN/WAN configurations is essential. Additionally, expertise in network security principles and compliance frameworks is highly desirable.

Proven expertise in the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of routers is required.
