The Position

Reporting directly to the Senior ICT Officer, the ICT Intern will acquire practical experience in Information Technology within a fast-paced NGO setting. This internship aims to offer exposure to essential ICT responsibilities, such as providing user assistance, managing systems’ administration, overseeing network monitoring, handling systems and data, and maintaining ICT security operations. The intern will collaborate closely with the ICT team to support daily functions, contribute to active projects, and advance the organization’s objectives by ensuring seamless, secure, and dependable ICT services.

Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of duties and responsibilities, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational standards. Provide leadership in managing critical tasks, coordinating cross-functional efforts, and fostering collaboration to achieve measurable outcomes. Serve as a key contributor to strategic initiatives, driving efficiency and innovation while maintaining high performance standards. Monitor progress, assess performance metrics, and implement corrective actions as needed to uphold accountability and continuous improvement.

Deliver technical support to staff members regarding common software and hardware-related challenges.

Provide support for the setup, configuration, and upkeep of both hardware and software systems.

Provide assistance with diagnosing and resolving issues within the network infrastructure while ensuring its ongoing functionality and reliability.

Oversee the scheduling, execution, and follow-up of repairs and maintenance tasks for ICT equipment to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance.

Deliver comprehensive ICT support for meetings, events, and field activities.

Support ICT Security Operations by actively monitoring threats, enforcing established security policies, aiding in audit processes, and maintaining strict adherence to organizational standards.

Document and communicate any unresolved issues to senior ICT personnel for prompt escalation and resolution.

Execute any additional responsibilities delegated by the ICT supervisor as deemed necessary.

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following educational and professional prerequisites. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is essential, complemented by at least three years of hands-on experience in a comparable role. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, is mandatory. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with the capacity to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams, are also required. Prior experience in project management or leadership roles would be advantageous.

Currently enrolled in or having recently graduated from a degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline.

Proficient in utilizing Unix and Windows-based applications and possesses foundational knowledge of networking principles.

Proficiency in networking, PC maintenance, MS Windows Server, MS Active Directory, desktop operating systems, Cisco routing, switching, and voice technologies is required.

Exceptional proficiency in interpersonal relations and effective communication is essential.

Demonstrates a proactive approach to acquiring new skills and adjusting to emerging technological advancements.
